David Peters Scoops $75,000 in the High Roller Big Game

David Peters is used to winning major poker tournaments. With almost $6.3 million in online poker winnings and a ridiculous $33.7 million from the live arena, there are few players who have won more than him.

Peters added another $75,000 to his lifetime tally on January 17 when he triumphed in the $2,600 buy-in High Roller Big Game at partypoker. Peters was one of 137 players who bought into this weekend’s event, which paid out 23 places.

Sam Greenwood popped the money bubble, leaving such luminaries as Team partypoker duo Kristen Bicknell and Patrick Leonard in the money. Parker Talbot, Jon Van Fleet, Pascal Lefrancois, and Thomas Muehloecker were among the other stars to net a profit from this tournament.

All but ninth-place finisher Niklas Astedt won a five-figure prize at the final table. Astedt collected $8,591 after becoming the first finalist out of the door.

Astedt’s fellow Swede Kristoffer Edberg fell in eight before Stephen Chidwick, Enrico Camosci, and partypoker ambassador Mikita Badziakouski crashed out.

Talented Austrian Matthias Eibinger fell in fourth with Juan Pardo Dominguez running out of steam in third place. That last exit left Peters and Mike Watson heads-up. The pair struck a deal to conclude the tournament earlier than expected, a deal that saw Watson bank $54,958 and Peters $75,000.

Day Kotoviezy Scoops Big Game Title

January 17 was a great day for Team partypoker’s Day Kotoviezy because the Brazilian topped a star-studded field in the $530 buy-in Big Game. Kotoviezy was one of 452 entrants in the $200,000 guaranteed event and she was the last player standing, an impressive result that saw her bankroll swell by $39,279.

Victory was made sweeter by the fact there were some superb players at the final table. Diego Cuellar and Marton Czuczor could only muster seventh and sixth place finishes respectively. Dutch star Pim Gieles fell in fifth before Joseph Cheong was knocked out in fourth.

This left Kotoviezy three-handed with a pair of British grinders. One of those, Keith Hoang, fell in third before Kotoviezy busted Paresh Doshi when heads-up to lock up the lion’s share, or should that be lionesses share, of the $219,750 prize pool.

Big Names Clean Up at GGPoker

The Sunday tournaments at GGPoker are massive and this attracts some of the biggest names in the poker world to the site. This Sunday was no different with some fantastic results enjoyed by the best-known players on the planet.

Connor Drinan excelled in the $2,625 buy-in High Rollers Blade Closer. This high stakes tournament saw 60 players buy-in and the top eight finishers receive a slice of the $150,000 prize pool.

Spare a thought for Pascal Hartmann who crashed out in ninth place and burst the money bubble.

Ole Schemion was the first player to cash. He was joined on the rail by Juan Pardo Dominguez, Elio Fox, and Koray Aldemir, the latter locking up a $13,840 prize.

Vlad Martynenko fell in fourth before “dropemtk” crashed out in third to leave Ireland’s “Pluto The Doggo” and Drinan heads-up. Drinan got his hands on all 600,000 chips that were in play and claimed the $39,356 top prize for himself. Second place weighed in at a still respectable $30,307.

Georgios Manousos Sompropoulos Nets Almost $100K

Georgios Manousos took down the Sunday High Rollers Main Event and turned his $1,050 investment into a cool $97,453. Manousos was one of 533 entrants in this event and he was a worthy champion.

He found himself against Adam Hendrix heads-up after Hendrix fired five bullets! Although that fifth bullet didn’t result in a victory, it did see Hendrix collect $73,079 for his runner-up finish.

Plenty of other establish pros cashed in this event. Matas Cimbolas and George Wolff reached the final table but couldn’t progress deeper than fourth and ninth respectively. Shawn Buchanan, Connor Drinan, Christian Rudolph, David Peters, and Chris Moorman also cashed but fell short of the final table.

Ole Schemion Helps Himself to a $114,816 Score

Ole “wizowizo” Schemion helped himself to a near $115,000 score and a Blowout Series title on January 17. Schemion outlasted 280 opponents in the $2,100 NLHE PKO event.

Schemion’s massive prize consisted of $46,910 from the main prize pool and an additional $67,906 worth of bounty payments. A significant chunk of the latter was on the head of Ivan “zufo16 Zufic before Schemion sent him to the showers in second place.

Before that occurred, the likes of Artur “marathur1” Martirosian and Brazil’s “edudrake1987” crashed out at the final table. A pair of Finns in the shape of “fers223” and “PikkuHUMPPA” were the next to bust before the Russian duo that is “MAMOHT_T” and “CrazyLissy” ran out of steam.

Sergi Reixach Chips Sunday High Roller

Mexico-based Spaniard Sergi “srxakgirona” Reixach was one of 327 entrants in this week’s PokerStars Sunday High Roller and he was the last player standing after 8.5 hours of intense poker action.

Reixach had to contend with the likes of Christan “eisenhower1” Jeppsson, Alex “Pwndidi” Theologis, and Arsenii “josef_shvejk” Karmatckii at the final table but that didn’t seem to faze him.

He eventually found himself heads-up against British superstar Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford. The heads-up duo struck a deal that resulted in Beresford collecting $49,078 instead of the advertised $45,791 when he busted in second-place. Reixach claimed the new top prize worth $57,483.

Both of 888poker’s biggest Sunday tournaments were won by players calling Canada home.

“piper63” came out on top of a 1,024-strong field in the $109 buy-in $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep. This impressive finish resulted in $18,534 winging its way to piper63’s 888poker account.

The $30,000 Sunday Challenge PKO was won by “ehbarone68” who won a combined prize wroth $6,181, made up of $3,020 from the main prize pool and an additional $3,161 worth of bounty payments.
