SCOOP 2021 Day 6: Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha Beats Veldhuis to Win Fourth SCOOP Title

Pedro Padilha

The 2021 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) resumed on Saturday, April 10 after taking a day off with Friday only featuring SCOOP Side Events.

Andrey "Premove" Skvortsov won the SCOOP-27-H: $1,050 8-Game for his third SCOOP title in as many years.

Meanwhile, Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha (lead image) one-upped Skvortsov by winning his fourth career SCOOP title in the SCOOP-29-H: $2,100 NLHE [8-Max]. Padilha also bested PokerStars Ambassador Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis in heads-up play to deny him of his first SCOOP title.

Let's take a comprehensive look at everything that transpired on Wednesday during SCOOP 2021.

Third SCOOP Title for Andrei "Premove" Skvortsov

The SCOOP-27-H: $1,050 8-Game attracted 109 entries to provide all those that cashed a share of $16,000 in added overlay value. The event was a one-day affair lasting slightly less than 8 1/2 hours and paid out 15 players at least a min-cash of $2,580.

Russia's Andrei "Premove" Skvortsov took the most advantage of the extra value by shipping the event for his third SCOOP title along with the $28,101 top prize.

This makes it three years in a row that Skvortsov has found the winner's circle in SCOOP events. Skvortsov's first title came in 2019 when he found gold in the SCOOP-16-H: $2,100 NLO8 [6-Max], $200K Gtd for $47,793. He followed this up in 2020 when he was the last player standing in the 34-M: $55 PLO8, 8-Max to bank $17,635.

The final table began after Patrick "pads1161" Leonard was ousted in eighth place for $4,386. Norway's "trollringin" (fourth - $12,677), "XD89lol<3" (fifth - $9,723), "woodbine ave" (sixth - $7,457), and Luke "Bit2Easy" Reeves (seventh - $5,719) were the first players eliminated at the final table guaranteeing the final three players a podium finish.

Sweden's Robin "robinho" Ylitalo was denied his second SCOOP title and instead had to settle for a third-place finish for $16,530 leaving Skvortsov and Japan's Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara heads-up for the title.

Skvortsov found himself with all the chips leaving Kihara to collect a healthy runner-up prize of $21,552.

Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha Wins Fourth SCOOP Title

Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis finishes runner-up in the SCOOP-29-H

The SCOOP-29-H: $2,100 NLHE [8-Max] was another one-day tournament starting and finishing on Saturday, April 10. The tournament blew past its $350,000 guarantee with 211 entrants generating a $422,000 prize pool. The top 27 players were paid at least a mini-cash of $4,386.

Brazil's Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha has done it again by shipping the event in slightly more than 7 1/2 hours after besting PokerStars Ambassador Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis to collect the $82,354 top-prize.

While Veldhuis was denied his first SCOOP title he was able to wipe away any potential tears thanks to banking the $62,779 runner-up prize.

Meanwhile, this is the fourth SCOOP title for Padilha after winning two titles in 2012 and another four years later in 2016. His fourth title came nearly five years after his third and it must have been a sweet one with many big names battling out for the title at the final table.

Finishing behind Padilha and Veldhuis at the final table were Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika (third - $47,857), Joao "Naza114" Vieira (fourth - $36,482), Rodrigo "Seijistar" Seiji (fifth - $27,810), "Golem1989" (sixth - $21,200), Dominik "Bounatirou" Nitsche (seventh - $16,161), Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi (eighth - $12,320), and "aminolast" (ninth - $10,020)
