When it comes to summer poker in Las Vegas, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) isn’t the only game in town. Other venues up and down the Strip host their own series, including the much-beloved Wynn Poker Room.
The 2025 Wynn Summer Classic kicked off back on May 21 and will run through July 14. There are more than $40 million in guarantees during that time, including the $10,400 buy-in, $10 million GTD Summer Championship which features four starting flights and runs from June 26 through July 2.
Here’s a look at some of the recent winners from the 2025 Wynn Summer Classic.
Michael Wang Wins $555K
Michael Wang
One of the biggest tournaments thus far at the Wynn Summer Classic was the $1,600 buy-in, $2.5 million GTD No-Limit Hold’em event that kicked off on June 9. The tournament drew 2,405 runners and surpassed its guarantee by offering up a $3,439,150 prize pool to the top 298 finishers.
Some players to make deep runs but fall short of the final table were Ryan McAllister (11th - $36,290), Michael Zulker (15th - $19,184), Brandon Zuidema (21st - $11,067), Clayton Flecther (28th - $8,849), and Corel Theuma (46th - $6,587).
The final table had some familiar faces in Stoyan Madanzhiev (4th - $216,575) and Alexandre Reard (3rd - $283,735), but in the end it was well-known poker pro Michael Wang defeating Antonio Ortega in heads-up play to win the title for a massive $555,528 top prize, which is a new career-high surpassing the $541,604 he won for taking down the 2022 WSOP Event #87: $5,000 NLH.
The win brought Wang up to $7,443,421 in career earnings according to the Hendon Mob. It marked the second high-profile win in eight months for Wang as back in October he etched his name on the Mike Sexton Champions Cup by winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Playground for $298,088.
On Friday night, a $10,100 buy-in NLH PKO tournament took place and saw 79 entrants create a $790,000 prize pool. The top 11 finishers made the money including Brandon Wilson (10th - $13,035), Michael Berk (7th - $21,090), Fahredin Mustafov (4th - $45,030), and Ludovic Uzan (3rd - $61,380).
The final two players worked a deal that saw them each lock up $114,165 in prize money, but ultimately it was India's Santhosh Suvarna, a WSOP gold bracelet winner and regular on the high-stakes scene, being crowned the winner.
