The $250,000 Super High Roller — the biggest buy-in on the 2025 World Series of Poker schedule — got underway Sunday at noon inside Paris Las Vegas. And it didn’t take long for fireworks.

Austrian high-stakes crusher Matthias Eibinger, who has more than $24 million in live earnings according to The Hendon Mob, attempted an ambitious seven-high bluff with a 15% pot shove on businessman Brandon Steven. But did the gutsy move pay off?

Does a 15% Pot Shove Work Out for Eibinger?

PokerNews' Connor Richards, who is covering the event, reported:

With the blinds at 6,000/12,000 and a 12,000 big blind ante, Eibinger opened in the cutoff and Steven three-bet in the big blind. Eibinger called.

Steven continued with a small bet on the flop of 2A8 and Eibinger called. Steven then bet 240,000 on the 9 turn and Eibinger raised to 800,000. Steven called.

Steven checked on the 4 river and Eibinger moved all in for around 300,000 into the pot of over 2,000,000. Steven sighed and pushed out a call, leading Eibinger to sheepishly turn over 76 for just seven-high with a busted straight and flush draw.

Steven then showed AJ to win the massive pot and send Eibinger to the registration desk in the biggest buy-in of the summer.

Who Is Playing the WSOP $250K Super High Roller?

Andrew Lichtenberger

At the time of writing, the $250,000 Super High Roller has drawn 41 entries, with 37 players still in contention. Matthias Eibinger is responsible for two of those entries after firing a second bullet, putting him in for $500,000. Joining him on their final try is Bulgarian star Alex Kulev, who became the day’s first casualty before jumping back in.

Steven currently leads the field after scooping the massive pot, while Andrew Lichtenberger sits second in chips. “LuckyChewy” has been on a tear this summer, with a runner-up finish in the $50K and a sixth-place showing in the $100K, racking up $1.78 million in earnings between the two cashes.

A who's who of poker elites have taken their shot at the nosebleed event, including several 25K Fantasy picks such as Daniel Negreanu, Joao Vieira, Seth Davies, David Peters, Jeremy Ausmus, Isaac Haxton, Jesse Lonis, and Jason Koon.

On the wrong side of the rail already are All-Time Money List leader Bryn Kenney, Brandon Wilson, and Chris Hunichen.
