Bleznick's Aces Brutally Cracked in Six-Bet Pot in WSOP Main Event

The 2025 World Series of Poker Main Event has already dished out its fair share of brutal coolers and soul-crushing bad beats, but Day 1d may have taken things to a new level.

Among those to fall victim was Jared Bleznick, whose pocket aces were cracked in a massive six-bet pot worth 267,000 chips, a huge pot this early in poker’s World Championship.

And the drama didn’t stop there. Another player’s pocket kings were sent to the muck after their opponent called off 85 big blinds with nine-seven, while the final level of the night saw a full house run head-first into flopped quads.

Locquet Makes Quads on Bleznick

As reported by PokerNews reporter Tim Baker, in the penultimate level of Day 1d, Romain Locquet came in with a raise to 1,100 from early position before Shawn Cunix three-bet to 2,600 from the next seat. After a few folds, Bleznick four-bet to 5,200 out of the big blind. Locquet stared Bleznick down briefly before five-betting to 16,600. Cunix folded, but Bleznick took some time of his own and then meticulously carved out a six-bet of 38,000. Locquet wasn't going anywhere just yet as he called to see a flop.

With almost 80,000 in the pot already, the two players saw the dealer fan out a flop of 4♥9♠3♣. Bleznick was first to act and tossed out a bet of 30,000, which Locquet called.

The dealer delivered the 9♥ on the turn, prompting Bleznick to jam his was 63,900 into the middle. Locquet smirked and then made the call to put Bleznick at risk.

Locquet held quad nines, and Bleznick's fate was already set, as he was drawing dead before the river card even arrived. The river was irrelevant, and Bleznick's 2025 WSOP Main Event was over on Day 1, while Locquet moved into one of the top spots on the chip counts with a stack of almost 300,000.

Immediately after his elimination, Jeff Platt caught up with Bleznick to get his feelings and thoughts on the hand. Bleznick, still stunned, said:

"Pretty disappointing, the way i play tournament poker, I want to get a lot of chips early, that was probably the sickest beat I've taken all summer. I enjoyed the table, it was a lot of fun. I'd rather that happen today than four days in."

Maloney Calls with Baloney

An equally crazy hand also transpired over in Paris Yellow in the same level, where reporter Frank Visser saw one of the gutsiest calls of the week.

The players at the table noted that there had been a raise, with a few calls. Cliff Maloney, in the cutoff, was one of those callers. Robert Nobles then three-bet to around 5,000, with Maloney then clicking it to 8,000. Nobles slammed in his stack of 42,800 (85 big blinds) from the button. Maloney made a quick call, covering his opponent by 5,000 or so.

Nobles flopped top set on K♣4♣6♠, but the 2♣ turn made Maloney a flush for a big lead. The 8♦ river did not pair the board, setting Nobles' elimination in stone. Maloney, meanwhile, slammed the table in celebration as the large pot elevated his stack to nearly six figures.

PokerNews tried to catch up with Maloney after the hand, but the player had failed to return from the break, leaving his stack of around 90,000 to blind out.

One player at the table also said that Maloney had jammed for around 120,000 over a raise with pocket deuces at one point and it was hinted that alcohol may have played a part in Maloney's thought process.

Kolsun Turns a Boat...Against Feda's Quads

And one of the biggest set-ups of the day took place in a hand between Waheed Feda and Elias Kolsun.

Reporter Brett Slezak was at the scene and recalled:

With the board reading J♣3♦3♣10♣ on the turn with 16,000 in the pot, Kolsun got his final 25,100 into the middle with Feda making the call to put him at risk.

It was a disgusting cooler as the table stood aghast at the hands tabled in front of them. Feda had flopped quad threes before Kolsun turned a full house. Kolsun still had one out which did not come on the 4♥ river as all he could do was laugh on his way out of the tournament area.
