Soyza Gets it Wrong to Bubble $50,000 Challenge

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Michael Soyza
Michael Soyza

Michael Soyza limped in the small blind and Michael Addamo raised to 20,000. Soyza called and check-called 30,000 on the {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop.

The turn was the {j-Spades} and Soyza checked again. Addamo bet 105,000 into a pot of 100,000 and Soyza called.

The river was the {7-Hearts}. Soyza checked for the third time and Addamo moved all in. Soyza sat with 180,000 behind and used up three of his four time extensions before calling.

Addamo turned over {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flush and Soyza was eliminated having rivered only two pair with {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Badziakouski Rivered From the $50,000 Challenge

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Mikita Badziakouski
Mikita Badziakouski

Rainer Kempe opened to 14,000 on the button and Sam Greenwood three-bet all in from the small blind. Mikita Badziakouski was in the big blind and cold-called all in for 121,000. Kempe thought about it before folding.

Sam Greenwood: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Mikita Badziakouski: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Badziakouski was ahead and was looking to hold in order to double his 24 big blind stack. The flop {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and turn {j-Spades} didn't change anything, but Greenwood hit his three-outer on the {k-Clubs} river to send his opponent to the rail.

Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Sam Grafton was all in with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for 140,000 against the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Michael Addamo.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} offering no help to the Brit who was eliminated.

"Nice hand Michael," said Grafton, with the Australian now up to over 500,000 in chips.

Huang Busts Chidwick; Busts to Grafton

Level 10 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Shan Huang
Shan Huang

Stephen Chidwick and Shan Huang clashed before the flop with the former at risk with the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, while Huang held {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

The board came {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Huang rivered the ace.

Soon after the fortune would change for Huang when he called the shove of Sam Grafton on the {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} turn.

Shan Huang: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Sam Grafton: {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Huang was ahead with top set while Grafton tabled a straight and flush draw. The {7-Diamonds} on the river improved Grafton to a flush and Huang was eliminated.

Lim Eliminated by Kisacikoglu

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Chin Wei Lim
Chin Wei Lim

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}, there were already more than 70,000 in the middle and Chin Wei Lim bet 18,000 to receive a call from Orpen Kisacikoglu. Lim jammed the {k-Clubs} on the turn and Kisacikoglu instantly called.

Chin Wei Lim: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Orpen Kisacikoglu: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Kisacikoglu had the checkmark with his full house, kings over eights, and a meaningless {4-Spades} fell on the river to send Kisacikoglu into the top spot with 34 players remaining.

Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Luc Greenwood busted earlier and re-entered, as did Thomas Muehloecker after he was eliminated on Day 1.

Dan Smith had already entered for a second time and that wasn't a charm either as he just three-bet jammed for what appeared to be 42,500 and was called by initial raiser Alex Foxen.

Dan Smith: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Alex Foxen: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The board came {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Smith was ousted for a second time on Day 2.

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2020 Aussie Millions A$50,000 Challenge

Steve O'Dwyer among the big stacks heading into Day 2
Steve O'Dwyer among the big stacks heading into Day 2

A new record has been set already at the 2020 Aussie Millions as the A$50,000 Challenge drew a total of 67 entries thus far, beating the previous best field size of 62 entries in 2019 by five entries. However, the registration remains open for the first 60-minute level on Day 2 as of 2.10 p.m. local time and several players have already expressed their interest in joining the action in the poker room of the Crown Casino complex.

Fresh off a hot run in the last six months that saw him win two bracelets during the 2019 WSOPE, Kahle Burns will return with the biggest stack of 226,400 and he is followed by Elio Fox (187,700) and Michael Soyza (187,400), who are separated by fewer than half a big blind.

Other big stacks in a field filled with High Roller regulars are Mike Watson (169,600), Sam Greenwood (161,300), Steve O'Dwyer (151,600), Seth Davies (136,200), Mikita Badziakouski (131,500), Shan Huang (128,300), and last year's A$25,000 Challenge winner Rainer Kempe (115,600). O'Dwyer led the field into Day 2 of this year's A$25,000 Challenge and eventually finished in third place.

All those that wish to join or re-join the action can do so in the first hour of play with blinds of 700-1,400 and a big blind ante of 1,400. Once the registration closes at the end of level seven, the prize pool details will be finalized for the second-most expensive tournament of the 2020 Aussie Millions festival. Whether or not the tournament will play down to a champion or requires an additional third day remains to be seen.

Stay tuned to find out who takes down the next High Roller event here in Melbourne as the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor from start to finish to provide all the action.
