The penultimate flight in the 2019 BPO Event #1: $600 Deepstack Kick-Off has now come to an end after 16 exciting levels of play. Flight Day 1e saw a total of 793 registration slips sold by the time late registration finished, and just 98 of those found a bag at the end of the night.

A well-known Borgata regular came out on top of the field in David Jackson who bagged a healthy stack of 734,000. Jackson took down his biggest pot of the night during the last level of play against Wen Zhang where the flop came down with two tens and a four. Jackson check-called with his pocket sevens and filled up on the turn where he check-raised, finding a call from Zhang. Jackson led out on the river and Zhang called again. Jackson showed his boat and Zhang mucked, sending a massive pot to Jackson late in the night.

Other players finding a stack on the larger side of things include Dan Wach (540,000), Shankar Pillai (482,000), Spencer Champlin (423,000), Aubrey Williams (373,000), Trevor Johnson (372,000), and Wen Zhang (322,000).

Some familiar faces that found a bag by nights end are Greg Fishberg (282,000), Dylan Murcott (257,000), Chris Leong (243,000), Yoon Choi (213,000), Michael Wang (161,000), Ronit Chamani (145,000), Will "The Thrill" Failla (135,000), and Blake Whittington (96,000).

The combined day 1a-f survivors will return on Friday, September 6 at noon local time to resume Day 2 play. A full list of day two chip counts and seating assignments will be posted as soon as they're available.

Benitez Holds on with Kings, Veliu Takes an Exit

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Alida Veliu open-shoved for 64,000 from middle position and on her direct left was Kevin Benitez who called for his total stack of 59,000. The player in the big blind called as well and the three tabled their hands, with the big blind opponent having both at risk of elimination.

Kevin Benitez: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Alida Veliu: {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Benitez was still way ahead with his pair of cowboys. "Come on ace!" said Veliu as the dealer burned and turned a {10-Hearts}. The {5-Diamonds} river completed the board, cementing the pot for Benitez who tripled up, while Veliu took an exit late in the day.

Veliu Jams the Flop

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Alida Veliu opened to 10,000 from under the gun, both the small and big blind opponents called. The dealer fanned out {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and both opponents checked in the dark to Veliu who jammed all in for around 74,000.

Both of her opponents quickly folded and she scooped in the pot. Veliu is a Borgata regular, who's biggest cash came right here in 2013 for an outstanding $155,639. She is off to a great start here in Event #1: $600 Deepstack Kick-Off and will be looking to add another six-figure cash to her resume.

Shahar's Ducks Bring Him Near the Top

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The turned board read {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs} when Alon Shahar bet out and found a check-raise all-in from his opponent for around 45,000. Shahar called and his opponent tabled {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for top pair.

Shahar turned over {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and had his opponent drawing dead to the {j-Clubs} river card. He scooped in the pot, moving near the top of the food chain during the process of eliminating his opponent.
