Alex Visbisky Finds the Largest Bag of Day 1B in Almighty Stack

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Day 1b Chipleader Alex Visbisky
Day 1b Chipleader Alex Visbisky

The second flight of Event #13: $400 Almighty Stack has now come to an end after 17 levels of play. Day 1b saw 445 entry slips sold and when the dust had settled only 111 players found a bag that they would carry on into Day 2.

By the end of the night, Alex Visbisky found the largest stack from this field as he finished with 989,000. Visbisky grinded throughout most of the day, staying under the radar until the later levels when he catapulted towards the top after finding a present from an opponent who shoved seven-high on a flop that Visbisky was all over. His opponent failed to catch, leaving the Cheektowaga, NY, native with a lead that he did not return as he finished the day atop the Day 1b leaderboard.

Nipping at the heels of Visbisky is Ilya Dyment who has had some deep runs here in the Borgata with his largest coming in the 2017 BWPO when he took fourth in the Deepstack Kick-Off for $180,000. Dyment finished just shy of the leader, bagging 945,000 for the night and is someone to keep an eye on as the tournament unfolds.

Other stacks that slid into Day 2 on the larger side of things include Basel Chaora (875,000), Bryan Adames (864,000), Alberto Sabogali (734,000), and fan-favorite Stanley Lee (725,000).

Some notable players to emerge from the second flight are Daniel Sewnig (681,000), Brandon Miller (589,000), Jonas Wexler (581,000), Ryan Eriquezzo (517,000), Spencer Champlin (489,000), Borgata regular Anna Antimony (449,000), Leonard Sande (340,000), Zach Gruneberg (281,000), and Michael Azzaro (117,000).

The two starting flights combined for a total of 1,163 players with just 285 surviving and moving onto Day 2. Those survivors will combine with the remaining players of the Day 1c and 1d flights, returning on Friday, January 24, to battle it out until the final 18 players who will then return on the next day to play down to a winner.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live coverage of Day 1b but tune in tomorrow at 10 a.m. when Day 1c of the Almighty Stack kicks off for all of the updates.

He kept his composure and has done more than just rebuild his stack.

Sabogali is now sitting behind a mountain of 595,000 and he's one of only a handful of players currently over half a million.
