2017 Cash Game Festival Malta
Day 3 Completed
Day 3 of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Malta at Casino Malta by Olympic Casino has been a huge success. There has been a steady influx of tables throughout the day and night in a variety of games including no-limit hold'em and Sviten Special.
For many players, the highlight of the day was an epic VIP dinner at a private property where many exotic animals live including white lions. While the food was by far secondary, many players that attended raved about this as well.
Many fun players were on the two feature tables today including Cash Game Festival vlogger Maxime Roseau, who was born in France and at least for now calls the United Kingdom his home. Roseau is a poker enthusiast playing low-stakes online games when he finds the time and loves to get into an occasional live game when his budget allows him to.
Unfortunately for Roseau, today was not his day as he found himself low on chips. A few jams got through for him until he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar when he three-bet jammed preflop with pocket twos and wasn't able to pull a rabbit out of his hat after his opponent called and turned over pocket kings.
Tomorrow should be even more exciting. In the late evening (or early for some), the Cash Game Festival will be hosting a VIP party. Like the VIP dinner held earlier today, the location is being held tightly guarded and we might not know until the party is about to begin. However, all Cash Game Festival parties have been a huge hit in the past.
PokerNews coverage will resume again tomorrow on Day 4 to report all the poker action and the VIP party. A few player interviews are planned with some of the more colorful players at the festival to learn about their experiences during the first three days of the festival.
Here are some of the photos of what many have said was the most amazing VIP dinner experience at a Cash Game Festival.
Sin Menis Melin was introduced to the Cash Game Festival when it came to Aspers Casino in London, her "home" casino in February. She enjoyed the experience and at the time promised to travel to another stop.
Melin held her promise and flew out to Malta on Tuesday night on the same flight as Cash Game Festival regular Jack Fenton.
Fans of Melin can now check her out in the commentary booth with Cash Game Festival Host Brandon Allen.
Head to the Cash Game Festival website or click the Live Stream tab in our PokerNews coverage to listen and be entertained by Melin co-announcing the €2/€5 no-limit hold'em table.
The action is continuing to heat up at the Cash Game Festival Malta as the weather outside cools down for the evening. All of the action is low- and mid-stakes games including two €2/€5 no-limit hold'em tables.
A couple of new tables just opened up, including a Sviten Special table. A small crowd is watching the game trying to learn the rules. Among the players at the table is Nordicbet Head of Poker Jostein Grødum and Finland's Veli-Matti Puumala, who just arrived today straight from Las Vegas.
The second feature table will be beginning in about five minutes. The stakes have gone up to €2/€5 no-limit hold'em.
Cash Game Festival regular Michael Fletcher is back and is vying to be the big feature table winner in back to back nights. Also on the table are Latvia's Trumulis and United Kingdom's Peter Cox.
The action will be streamed on a 20-minute delay on the Cash Game Festival website and by clicking on the Live Stream tab in our PokerNews coverage.
So the rumors of lions were true. Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz was one of the first people back in the casino after the VIP dinner.
It was held at a private "reservation" where there were lions, parrots and other exotic animals. Zukowicz also shared there was a nice collection of cars on hand as well.
Zukowicz said the experience was fantastic but is now happy to be back in the casino.
Veli-Matti Puumala's reaction was similar. In just one word he said that the experience was "amazing!" He then shared, "There were lions!" before adding that the people serving the dinner joked that if you didn't like the food you would be fed to the lions.
Meanwhile, a €2/€5 no-limit hold'em feature table is being set-up and should be ready to go live soon.
Early in the evening, all of the tables are currently being played in no-limit hold'em. This will likely change soon as we learned that some of the players that enjoy other poker variants are on the way to the casino from the VIP dinner.
