Day 1 of the 2018 Cash Game Festival London at Aspers Casino broke in the new year with a huge splash with tons of action and fun throughout the day and evening.

The day peaked with 15 tables running with many of them expected to run throughout the evening and into the morning. Games on the first day including no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha and Sviten Special.

The festival began in the late afternoon with a welcome drinks ceremony with many players enjoying welcome drinks. However, many of the players couldn't wait for the official festival to begin with seven full tables already running before the ceremony.

Shortly after the welcome drinks ceremony began, the first televised feature table commenced with players battling it out in £2/£5 no-limit hold'em.

David Newson was the winner at the early feature table, commentated by Ryan "Metalface" Davey, after notching up £1,424 in profit or 284.8 big blinds. The amount of big blinds won is important since the person that wins the most big blinds during any feature table during the festival will walk away with a commemorative trophy and a hospitality package to the next Cash Game Festival.

The stakes stayed the same for the late feature table but the game changed to pot-limit Omaha featuring Jon Kyte, James Simms and Terry Jordon. Additionally, the action got much wilder.

However, it wasn't a member of this trio to perform the best. That honor belonged to Sam Miller who won £5,775 or 1,155 big blinds. This was all thanks to a huge pot when he won a huge pot of almost £14,000 against Kyte.

Players with the hospitality package will be enjoying an outing to a trampoline park in the early afternoon before heading back to the poker room for action at the tables.

Many other players will likely be enjoying the delights of British capital or getting into the action early in the day. As will be the case every day during the festival, live streaming is scheduled at lower stakes at 6:00 p.m. and higher stakes at 9:00 p.m. local time. You can watch all the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel.
