Greenstein Crippled

We caught up to see a short stacked player all in and at risk before the flop holding {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. This short stacked was called by Barry Greenstein who was behind with {J-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Greenstein was forced to ship about 16,000 over to his opponent. This loss puts Greenstein's stack at 7,000.

Former November Niners Do Battle

Back in 2009 when Team PokerStars Pro Joe Cada won the World Series of Poker Main Event for $8,546,435, Steve Begleiter placed sixth for $1,587,160. Cada was recently moved to Begleiter's table and the two got involved in the following recent hand.

After a raise from under the gun, Begleiter made the call in the next seat. Jean-Robert Bellande called in middle position, then Cada reraised to 4,500 from the hijack seat. Play folded back to the original raiser, and he also gave it up. Begleiter then moved all in for 25,850, and that knocked Bellande out of he way. Cada took a few moments, but eventually folded his hand.

Kanit Cant Call

Steven Silverman opened with a raise in early position and Calvin Anderson three-bet to 1,775 from the next seat over. Mustapha Kanit, in the small blind, four-bet to 3,600 chasing out Silverman. A call from Anderson delivered a {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop.

Kanit bet 3,400, Anderson called, and the {5-Clubs} followed on the turn. Kanit slowed down and checked it to Anderson this time who bet 7,075. Kanit took about 90 seconds before he called, resulting in the {J-Clubs} hitting the river. Kanit checked to Anderson again who, upon seeing Kanit had about 35,000 behind, bet enough to cover Kanit's stack.

Kanit went into the tank for about four minutes, but ultimately gave it up.

Liu Takes It Down

Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

The flop read {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and there were three players looking down upon it. Max Silver, first to act, bet out 900.

Xuan Liu was the next player to act. Liu famously final tabled this event last year and made PokerStars Caribbean Adventure history by becoming the first woman to ever appear at a PCA Main Event final table. Liu ultimately finished 4th in 2012 and is looking to continue her run-good here in 2013. She called Silver's bet and the player on the button stayed around to see fourth street as well.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and Silver pumped the breaks. Liu seized this opportunity by betting out 2,000. Liu's action caused the button to promptly let go of his cards. Silver thought for about thirty seconds before finally following suit. Liu was awarded the pot which brings her stack up to around 42,000.

Jensen Back Above Starting Stack

Down to about 6,000 not long ago, Greg Jensen just doubled up to get back above the 30,000 mark.

We caught up the action after the {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop and Jensen had bet 2,400. His opponent re-raised all in, putting Jensen to a decision for his remaining 12,275. After about two minutes in the tank, Jensen called all in with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

His opponent had many outs to win with {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, but Jensen took away a few of those when the {9-Hearts} turn made his a straight. Jensen dodged the clubs when the {7-Hearts} river completed the board.
