€50,000 Super High Roller

Day 2 Started

Welcome to Day 2 of EPT Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller

Season 10 of the European Poker Tour continues today with Day 2 of the €50,000 Super High Roller. Yesterday, 39 unique players plus 10 re-entries accounted for 49 total entries, but that number is expected to go up as registration is open until the start of Day 2. Igor Kurganov, who busted in the last hand of the night on Day 1, is likely to re-enter, and online high-stakes pro Jens Kyllonen has been spotted wandering the room.

Hungarian businessman Sandor Demjan will begin the day as chip leader with 1,037,000, and he will be joined by other big stacks such as Fabian Quoss (813,000), Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu (619,000), and November Niner David Benefield (552,000).

Others who busted on Day 1, subsequently re-entered, and are still in contention are Richard Yong, Tobias Reinkemeier, Jeff Rossiter, Timothy Adams, Paul Newey, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Martin Finger, and Philipp Gruissem.

The field will return at 12 p.m. local time, which is about 20 minutes from now. At that time registration will be closed and official numbers, including the final number of entries and the prize pool, will be released. Join us then as we bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the floor of the Casino Barcelona.

Unh For Quoss

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We arrived at the table to find Seng Unh all in and at risk for his last roughly 50,000 before the flop. Unh was up against big stack Fabian Quoss.

Unh: {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Quoss: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Unh retained his lead and paired up on the {5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop and was looking good to double up. Unfortunately for Unh, the {K-Hearts} drilled the turn, pairing Quoss and putting Unh's tournament life at severe risk. The {K-Clubs} finished the board and Unh was eliminated early here on Day 2. Quoss added to his stack and now sits around 860,000 in chips.

Adams Gets Lucky Double Up

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Timothy Adams raised to 15,000 from under the gun. Jean-Noel Thorel, sitting directly to his left raised to 52,000. It folded back round to Adams who gave it some thought and put in the four bet to 110,000. Thorel shifted in his seat and put out the call. They saw a flop of {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Adams bet out 75,000 which was met by an all-in from Thorel. Adams called and turned over his {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Thorel though had flopped a boat with his {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The last two cards came {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds} however and the river cards gave Adams the better full house.

Demjan Adds

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From the hijack seat, Marc-Andre Ladouceur opened with a raise to 13,000. Overnight chip leader Sandor Demjan called from the small blind, and the two players went heads up to the flop.

The {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} fell, and Demjan check-raised Ladouceur's bet of 15,000 to 40,000. Ladouceur made the call, and the dealer placed the {6-Hearts} out on the turn. Demjan led for 50,000, and Ladouceur folded.

One for Negreanu

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From middle position, Erik Seidel opened with a raise to 14,000. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu made the call from the cutoff seat, and Dani Stern called from the button. The three players saw the flop come down {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and Seidel checked. Negreanu bet 21,000, and Stern folded. Seidel also gave it up, and Negreanu picked up the pot.

Jens Kyllonen raised from the cutoff seat to 15,000, Mike McDonald reraised from the button to 35,000, then Martin Finger moved all in from the small blind for 140,000. Kyllonen and McDonald quickly folded, and Finger won the pot to get back over 200,000 in chips.

Newey Doubles Through Kurganov

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Igor Kurganov busted in the last hand of the night on Day 1 in a brutal set-over-set situation, but he has re-entered here on Day 2. Unfortunately for him, his luck hasn't changed thus far.

In a recent hand, there was about 60,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} when Paul Newey moved all in from the big blind for 75,000. Kurganov was on the button and he thought long and hard before making the call with the {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for top pair. Newey then rolled over the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades} for top pair with a better kicker.

The {2-Hearts} river missed Kurganov and Newey doubled through the German.
