The €25,000 High Roller at the 2013 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final has come to a close. Winning the prestigious event and earning the largest score of his poker career was Steven Silverman.

Silverman entered the final day of play third in chips out of the remaining 12 players, but all eyes were on two others — Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst and defending champion Igor Kurganov. Selbst was the winner of the $25,000 High Roller at the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the chip leader entering Day 3. Kurganov defeated a field of 133 entries last year to win this event and was looking to complete the miraculous back-to-back feat.

The tournament looked like it was all Selbst's as she tore through the field to start the day, but her run ended in fourth place. Kurganov fell a few spots before that in seventh place.

When play got down to three-handed action, the story was more about the deal that wasn't happening than the actual play of poker. Fady Kamar was firm on what he wanted and tried to squeeze every little bit he could out of Silverman and Tony Gregg. After a few attempts at striking a deal, play carried on, but then Kamar began to chip back up. In the end, the three struck a deal that earned each €760,000 with €15,000 and the title left to play for.

From there, Kamar fell in third place, leaving Silverman and Gregg heads up for the trophy, the extra bit of cash and the Shamballa Jewels bracelet.

Silverman had the lead to begin the match, and the two good friends enjoyed a coffee before getting down to battle. Following their little break, it only took a few hands before Silverman scooped a massive pot from Gregg to stretch out his lead.

Gregg had opened to 100,000 on the button with the blinds at 25,000/50,000/5,000, and Silverman three-bet to 375,000 from the big blind. Gregg called, and the flop came down {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Silverman led for 380,000, and Gregg made the call.

The turn card was the {7-Diamonds}, and Silverman checked. Gregg fired 320,000, and Silverman made the call to see the {A-Spades} land on the river. Both players checked. Silverman showed the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, and Gregg mucked his hand. That left Gregg with 1.925 million in chips and gave Silverman 5.98 million.

On the final hand, the two found all the money in with Silverman holding the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} versus Gregg's {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. The {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop kept Gregg in front, but the {J-Clubs} put Silverman in the lead on the turn. Gregg needed a deuce or a four on the river, but couldn't find it when the dealer slapped the {J-Hearts} on the end of the board. With that, the man who has previously made the PCA Main Event final table twice was eliminated in second place and took home €760,000.

Silverman scored the extra €15,000 for a total first-place prize of €765,000. This was by far the largest score of his career, and one that will feel extremely good given that Silverman was in on this event via a €3,000 satellite.

Earlier in the event, Silverman joked about "running the gauntlet" by suggesting that if he won he would go on and play the €100,000 Super High Roller. It turns out, he will indeed play the €100,000 Super High Roller, which begins tomorrow at 12 p.m. CET.

While that concludes the PokerNews coverage of the €25,000 High Roller, you can check out our updates of the €10,000 Main Event or the €100,000 Super High Roller that begins tomorrow.

From the button, Fady Kamar raised all in for right around 850,000. Tony Gregg reraised all in from the small blind, and Steven Silverman folded.

Gregg showed the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and was in front of Silverman's {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. The flop, turn and river ran out {Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, and Kamar was eliminated.

Vanessa Selbst Eliminated in 4th Place (€290,300)

Vanessa Selbst looked, for a long while, like she was going to add another High Roller title to her collection but she just busted in a huge pot to Tony Gregg.

Gregg raised to 80,000 off the button and faced an 185,000 three-bet from the Team PokerStars Pro in the small blind. Gregg wasn't to be ousted from the pot though as he four-bet to 480,000. Selbst then announced she was all in for around 1,800,000 million. Call!

Gregg: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Selbst: {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Spades}.

Vanessa took the lead on the flop but was still dog in the hand as Gregg had a flush draw plus two overs. Math played its part as the board ran out {8-Spades}{a-Spades} to pair Gregg's ace.

Toby Lewis Eliminated in 5th Place (€232,400)

Toby Lewis -- 5th Place
Toby Lewis -- 5th Place

An unlucky Toby Lewis has been eliminated by Steven Silverman. The latter has extended his lead at the top as a result.

Lewis opened to 60,000 from under the gun and moved all in for around 600,000 after Silverman three-bet to 165,000 off the button. Silverman snap called.

Lewis: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Silverman: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board ran a dreamy {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for Silverman. Lewis wished everyone the best of luck and made his way to the payout desk.

Toby Lewis can relax in the knowledge he had locked up, at least, an extra €40,000 after Chris Moore was eliminated by Tony Gregg.

Steven Silverman opened to 65,000 before Moore moved 95% of his stack into the middle. Gregg was in the small blind and moved all in and Moore called off the extra after Silverman folded.

Moore: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Gregg: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Moore leaves with a cool €193,500 pay day.

Igor Kurganov Eliminated in 7th Place (€154,700)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Igor Kurganov -- 7th Place
Igor Kurganov -- 7th Place

Defending champion Igor Kurganov has just been eliminated after getting his money in dominated with the {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to Steven Silverman's {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

The flop came down {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, but it was the {J-Diamonds} on the turn that provided a bit of a sweat in the hand, giving Kurganov a flush draw. The river completed the board with the {2-Clubs}, and Silverman won the pot.

Last year, Kurganov defeated a field of 133 entries to win €1.08 million. This year, he'd have to settle for seventh place worth €154,700.

Silverman, who won his way into this event via a €3,000 satellite, moved to 2.1 million in chips.

Sorel Mizzi -- 10th Place
Sorel Mizzi -- 10th Place

The unofficial final table of nine has been set after Toby Lewis eliminated Sorel Mizzi in a battle of the blinds.

The action folded to Lewis in the small blind, and he raised. Mizzi moved all in for about 250,000 from the big blind, and Lewis called.

Lewis: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Mizzi: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} to have Mizzi dead by the turn. He was eliminated in 10th place and earned €85,000. Lewis moved up to about 1.2 million.

Davidi Kitai was praying that Fady Kamar has ace-king when he moved all in behind but he was soon to be disappointed, and then very disappointed.

Kitai moved all in for exactly 320,000 and Kamar did the same for 480,000 from the small blind.

Kitai: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Kamar: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} to see Kamer flop his opponent dead with quads!

As Kitai was getting up to leave a cheeky Igor Kurganov said to the Belgian, "Look, look: you made a flush!"

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst Eyes Another High Roller Title

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Welcome back for the third and final day of the €25,000 High Roller at the 2013 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final. This stop in Monaco marks the culmination of Season 9 of the EPT, and it's been an exciting festival thus far. Continuing with the excitement, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst leads into Day 3 of this event with a stout group of competitors behind her.

In all, 12 players remain, including the defending champion Igor Kurganov. Last year, Kurganov defeated a field of 133 entries to win €1.08 million. With 678,000 in chips coming back for play today, Kurganov sits just above average and in seventh place on the leader board.

Also remaining are Toby Lewis, Alex Bilokur, Toby Lewis, Davidi Kitai and Sorel Mizzi, to name a few. Mizzi will be the short stack returning to play, but one double up will put him right back into the middle of the pack.

Earlier this year, Selbst became the winningest female poker player of all time by taking the title in the $25,000 High Roller at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for over $1.4 million. She's already set to increase her live tournament earnings with the field being in the money, but she could jump as high as 26th on the All-Time Money List if she were to win this event. Right now, Selbst sits in 42nd place on that list, but she's just about assured herself that she'll be moving up the ladder.

Day 3 will begin with two tables of six players jousting on the felt. The field will combine to one table when nine remain and play down to a winner from there. The final day's festivities are set to begin at 12 p.m. CET, so stay right here to PokerNews for all the action.
