GGPoker Spring Festival H-83: $10,300 Super Tuesday Action of the Day

98 unique entrants had filled the field with no shortage of notables, as can be expected of a $10K. Among those who cashed, but fell short of the final table, are Stephen O'Dwyer (24th place), Daniel Dvoress (20th place), Isaac Haxton (18th place), Sam Greenwood (17th place), Fedor Holz (13th place), and Kristen Bicknell (11th place), who was among one of the last people to late reg. She fell just short of the final table when her ace-six suited fell to Watson's ace-queen.

The money bubble burst when Sam Kelopuro's ace-four suited couldn't hold against Stephen Chidwick's jack-eight suited.

Peters started the final table with a commanding chip lead relative to the other players. His 8 million in chips dwarfed the next biggest stack of 2.5 million owned by of "illywilly97". Ami Barer, Andrii Derzhypilskyi, Stephen Chidwick, and Nick Petrangelo fell one by one, with Petrangelo losing a race with king-jack suited against Peters' pocket tens.

Mark Radoja
Mark Radoja

Watson started his ascension to the top after winning ace-jack versus the pocket sixes of Timothy Adams. The Canadian, well-known under his alias "SirWatts" in the online realm, spiked the ace on the river to send Adams out in fifth. Watson also knocked out "illywilly97" in fourth in a blind-on-blind battle to leave the field with him, Peters, and Radoja.

Peters, the overwhelming chip leader at the start of the final table, dwindled down steadily throughout and ultimately parked his queen-jack suited into Watson's king-queen to be eliminated in 3rd place. A few hands into the heads-up, Watson and Radoja agreed to a deal to end the tournament on the spot, with Watson taking home the title and slightly more money than Radoja.

This concludes today's coverage of Event H-83: $10,300 Super Tuesday. However, with several more days of GG Spring Festival action to come — be sure to stick with PokerNews as we continue to bring you all the action from the virtual felt!

David Peters Eliminated in 3rd Place ($223,398)

Level 34 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

David Peters open shoved for his last 1.9 million and Michael Watson called from the big blind to put Peters at risk.

Peters: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Watson: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Watson had Peters dominated and things only got worse for Peters on the {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop. The {8-Hearts} turn left Peters drawing dead and an irrelevant {7-Clubs} came on the river.

Peters will take $223,298 for his performance.

Level 34 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

Action folded to Michael Watson in the small blind, who raised enough to put "illywilly97" all in for his last 2 million. "illywilly97" called.

"illywilly97": {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Watson: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

"illywilly97" was in good shape to double, but was drawing nearly dead on the {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop. The {a-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river were no help and "illywilly97" was eliminated in 4th place for $167,525.

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Michael Watson opened to 160,000 from the cutoff and was flatted by "illywilly97" on the button. Timothy Adams went all-in for just over 1 million from the small blind and action folded back over to Watson, who re-raised to just under 2 million. This got "illywilly97" to fold and hand were tabled.

Adams: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Watson: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Adams was slightly ahead, and remained so on the {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and {5-Diamonds} turn. However, An {a-Spades} filled the river — pairing Watson's ace and eliminating Adams in 6th place for $125,626.

Peters was slightly ahead, and the {7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades} runout failed to materialize anything for Petrangelo, who was eliminated in 6th place for a $94,206 payout.

"illywilly97": {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Chidwick: {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop gave Chidwick some hope with additional outs, but the {4-Diamonds} and {8-Spades} river bricked out and he was eliminated in 7th place — good for $70,644.

Level 30 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

Watson: {10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Derzhypilskyi: {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, providing no help to Derzhypilskyi and eliminating him in 8th place. He will take home $52,976 for his efforts.

Level 29 : 25,000/50,000, 6,000 ante

David Peters opened to 100,000 from under the gun and action folded to Ami Barer, who went all in for 777,000. "illywilly97" cold-called from the small blind and Peters got out of the way.

"illywilly97": {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Barer: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop sent Barer on top, but a crushing {10-Diamonds} landed on the turn — leaving Barer needing a jack.

The {4-Hearts} bricked out and Barer was eliminated in 9th place for $39,762.

Nemeth Eliminated by Peters

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Andras Nemeth opened to 105,000 from the cutoff and was 3-bet to 340,000 from David Peters in the small blind. Action folded back to Nemeth, who called.

The flop came {2-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Peters shoved for about 3 million, which was enough to cover Nemeth. Nemeth called for 1,246,000 and hands were revealed.

Nemeth: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Peters: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

It was a bit of a cooler for Nemeth, who was outkicked and needed help. The {6-Spades} turn and {7-Clubs} river were of no help and Nemeth was eliminated in 12th place for $21,750.

Peters now has a commanding chip lead of just over 5 million.

Sam Kelopuro Bubbles

Level 26 : 15,000/30,000, 3,500 ante

Action folded all the way to blinds, where Sami Kelopuro shoved in their last 157,000. Stephen Chidwick called from the big.

Chidwick: {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Kelopuro: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The {10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop and {k-Spades} turn looked good for Kelopuro to double and survive, but a fateful {8-Clubs} hit the river — pairing Chidwick and sending Kelopuro out just shy of the money.

The remaining players will take home a min-cash of $18,238 or higher for their efforts.
