Mulder and Kramer Lead International MCOP Event Final Table

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Teun Mulder
Teun Mulder

Day 3 of the Master Classics of Poker Main Event has come to an end, and the final table is set. Nine players remain in the most prestigious tournament of The Netherlands, and it's a Dutchman that leads the international final table.

Teun Mulder, an online cash game expert by trade, battled with kings versus ace-king in the last hand of the day to conclude the penultimate day of poker showdowns in Amsterdam. German angstgegner [Removed:172] follows close behind with just a three big blind deficit to the chipleader.

Worth a mention are two other Dutchman, both for their own reasons. Jasper Meijer van Putten won the last EPT in Prague before the world's biggest poker tour took a year hiatus before getting reinstated. The experienced Dutch poker player brings a more than decent 59 big blinds to the final table.

The other honorable mention goes out to Alberto Stegeman who starts out with fourteen big blinds and has his work cut out for him. Stegeman is a local celebrity, known for his investigative journalism with his own tv-shows on Dutch TV. Despite poker not being his bread and butter, Stegeman is absolutely no stranger to poker. In fact, the game of poker has been a longtime passion of the amicable Stegeman who's cemented himself a place in the Dutch poker scene already, having played numerous national and international poker tournaments.

Day 3 of Amsterdam's most famous tournament got underway with 36 hopeful souls looking for a spot at that final table and a shot at the €240,183 first-place prize that accompanies coming in first.

Before the dinner break, many recognizable faces had hit the rail already. Former champions Noah Boeken (33rd, €7,800) and Hakim Zoufri (31st, €9,547) were joined on the rail by such famous players as Steve O'Dwyer (27th, €9,547), Giuliano Bendinelli (20th, €11,642), and Goran Mandic (16th, €13,971).

Local heroes Stefan Wolzak (34th, €7,800), Michiel Brummelhuis (30th, €9,547), and Joris Ruijs (23rd, €11,642) had already claimed their payout by that time.

The chip lead shifted between Jasper Meijer van Putten and [Removed:172] for some time, before eventually Teun Mulder took the honors.

There are 45 minutes remaining in Level 21; 8,000/16,000 with a 16,000-ante. The final day is scheduled to get underway at 3 pm local time. But, as is a tradition in Holland Casino Amsterdam, the actual play is going to be preluded by a welcome ceremony that includes every player making their entrance to their hand-picked song. Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Jan Eric Schwippert
Jan Eric Schwippert

Jasper Meijer van Putten opened for 35,000 and big blind Jan Eric Schwippert moved all in for just around 230,000. Meijer van Putten didn't have too hard a call and instantly put in the necessary chips.

Jasper Meijer van Putten: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Jan Eric Schwippert: {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

While Schwippert hit a nine on the {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop, the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn and {8-Diamonds} on the river made it all for nothing. Schwippert, one of the most feared German players on the circuit, out in 12th place.

Vlada Stojanovic: {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Max Lehmanski: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Goran Mandic Eliminated in 16th Place (€13,971)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Goran Mandic
Goran Mandic

Alberto Stegeman opened the action with a raise to 26,000 and big blind Goran Mandic called. Mandic checked on {4-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Stegeman bet 22,000. Mandic check-raised to 60,000 and Stegeman called.

The {J-Clubs} turn saw Mandic fire 42,000. Stegeman called.

The {3-Clubs} river made for a double paired board and Mandic checked. Stegeman thought about it for a bit and eventually bet 117,000. Mandic called but mucked upon being shown {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} by Stegeman.

Mandic, with just 75,000 or so left, was in the small blind the next hand. Action folded to him and he shoved with {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Big blind Jasper Meijer van Putten called with {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and ended up coming out on top: {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

Meijer van Putten Busts Ruijs and Loikkanen

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jasper Meijer van Putten
Jasper Meijer van Putten

Joris Ruijs was seen walking to the payout desk, and told us what had happened. Meijer van Putten opened the button for 17,000 and Ruijs defended his big blind with {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}. The flop came {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Ruijs checked. Meijer van Putten bet 26,000 and Ruijs shoved for 109,000 total. Meijer van Putten called with {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. The {K-Spades} on the turn and {7-Diamonds} on the river were no good cards for Ruijs and he exited.

The next hand, Meijer van Putten got it all in against Arto Loikkanen. The latter had aces while Meijer van Putten had kings. The turn brought a king to the board, favoriting the Dutchman. No ace or straight for Loikkanen on the river and another Fin hit the rail.

Algarra Vidana
Algarra Vidana

Algarra Vidana opened with a raise to 19,000 from the hijack. Big blind Max Lehmanski called and checked on {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Vidana bet 21,000 and Lehmanski check-raised to 62,000. Vedana shoved soon enough, putting 239,000 in the middle. Lehmanski called instantly.

Algarra Vidana: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Max Lehmanski: {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The {10-Spades} on the turn instantly helped Vidana. The {10-Diamonds} on the river was effectively inconsequential, the harm to Lehmanski had already been done on the turn. Vidana doubled.

Thierry van den Berg
Thierry van den Berg

Down to around 50,000, Thierry van den Berg shoved all in. Another player at the table called before Vlada Stojanovic squeezed to 150,000. This forced out the other player, leaving Van den Berg and Stojanovic heads up.

Van den Berg had {A-}{6-} and was up against the worst possible holding: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} for Stojanovic. The board ran out {8-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Van den Berg exited.

Down to 24 players now, just three tables remaining in the Main Event.

Steve O'Dwyer Eliminated

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Max Lehmanski limped in from under the gun plus one and the action folded to Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind. O'Dwyer checked and the two got a board of {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

O 'Dwyer checked and saw Lehmanski bet 7,000. O'Dwyer check-raised to 30,000 and Lehmanski called.

They both checked the {6-Spades} on the turn before the {3-Hearts} completed the board. O'Dwyer bet around 70,000 with a single 1,000-chip behind. Lehmanski plummeted five 25,000-chips in the middle and O'Dwyer somewhat reluctantly called with his {K-Spades}{3-Spades}. Lehmanski tabled {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and O'Dwyer exited.

Michiel Brummelhuis didn't really get anything going today, and slowly but steadily saw his stack decline. Down to about 100,000, he moved all in holding {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} from the hijack.

Totti Arosuo called from the big blind holding {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. While it wasn't too unfair a match up, things never got scary for Arosuo. The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Brummelhuis said his goodbyes.
