Lykov Flush With New Chips

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Leo Fernandez in the small blind who raised to 110,000. Max Lykov called out of the big and the flop fell {2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {a-Hearts} and Fernandez checked again. Lykov fired 155,000 and Fernandez called.

The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and Fernandez checked a third time. Lykov slid out 395,000 and Fernandez snap-called.

The hands weren't open right away though and things became confusing because the dealer said it was 295,000. The floor ruled that Fernandez was allowed to re-act on his hand and he called anyway.

Lykov rolled over {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for the nut-flush, Fernandez mucked and Lykov increased his stack to 1.9 million chips. Fernandez slipped to 2.3 million.

From the cutoff, Max Lykov raised to 60,000. Next to act was Erik Seidel on the button and he made it 140,000 to play. Action folded back to Lykov and he four-bet to 262,000, quickly getting called by Seidel.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Lykov checked. Seidel bet about 250,000 and after a few moments, Lykov gave it up.

David "Bakes" Baker - 6th Place
David "Bakes" Baker - 6th Place

David "Bakes" Baker open-shoved all in for 494,000 in the hijack seat and Leo Fernandez re-shoved from the small blind. Max Lykov released his big blind and the hands were opened.

Baker: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Fernandez: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Baker was racing for his tournament life, and he retained his small lead after the flop came {3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades}. Fernandez snatched the lead away when the {q-Clubs} turned however and Baker was left with just two outs. The {j-Diamonds} on the river could not save Baker and he was eliminated in 6th place taking home $203,475.

Fernandez extended his chip lead and now has nearly 3 million in his stack.

Leo Fernandez opened to 80,000 from the hijack seat before Matt Marafioti moved all in for 272,000 on the button. The blinds released and Fernandez called.

Fernandez: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Marafioti: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

It was a race, but no card higher than a seven came when the board ran {5-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Marafioti finished seventh in this event last year as well, but his $166,480 prize this year nearly doubled the $87,465 he made last year.

Leo Fernandez is alive and well, with 2.24 million chips.

Shander de Vries - 9th Place

Action folded to Shander de Vries in the small blind who moved all in and Erik Seidel made the call.

De Vries: {k-Spades}{8-Spades}
Seidel: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

De Vries did not catch up on the {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades} board and was crippled to 6,000 chips.

The very next hand he got it in against fellow Dutchman Govert Metaal. De Vries was trailing again with {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} against Metaal's {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. The board ran {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and de Vries hit the rail.
