Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Mikhail Patish
Mikhail Patish

All four Day 1 flights are now complete in the Parx Big Stax 300. The fourth and final opening day flight went down Saturday, as Day 1d drew more than 940 entries to Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

That big field trimmed down to less than 200 players by night's end, and the Day 1d survivors will join the 208 players that made it through Day 1a, 1b and 1c to advance in the tournament. All of the players that bagged over the past four days will come back Sunday for Day 2, with the combined field coming back for a noon restart.

Among the big stacks bagging Day 1d are names like Mikhail Patish (696,500), who appeared to end the night with the Day 1d chip lead, as well as the biggest stack overall coming back for Day 2.

Others in contention include Sharath Sreeramoju (572,000), Eric Valerio (539,500), Joseph Galazzo (536,000), and John Ciafolo (424,000).

The field played through 14 45-minute levels Saturday, ending with the blinds at 1500/300/3000/ Play will resume at Level 15 Sunday, and the structure will switch to one-hour levels until the final table is reached.

The 948 entries on Day 1d brings the total number of entries to 2,174 for the tournament. Late registration is still available through the beginning of Level 16, the second level of play, Sunday.

Boat Over Trips Gets Staib Paid

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Kenny Staib
Kenny Staib

With more than 40,000 in the pot on the river, and the board showing {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, a player in middle position bet 15,000, and Derek Staib raised all in for 60,200 total.

The middle-position player made the call, tabling {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for trips. Staib's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} was the winner, however, and after he collected the chips he now sits at 160,000.

Escriba Takes Three in a Row

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Julio Escriba
Julio Escriba

Julio Escriba is up to 128,000 after a run of three consecutive hands, all of which saw Escriba add chips to the stack.

The first hand resulted in the elimination of an opponent, as Escriba's {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} bested the opponent's {4-}{4-} on a {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts} board. That hand sent around 30,000 chips to Escriba.

The next hand saw an under-thegun open to 1,300, and a call from Escriba in the big lind. Both players checked the {10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop, and Escriba bet 4,000 on the {9-Spades} turn, prompting a fold.

Escriba added a third straight won pot after that, and he's sitting comfortably as Level 7 rolls on.

He eventually decided on an all-in raise, which his opponent snap called. The tanking was just for show, as it turned out, as Berdichevsky tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for the nut flush, besting his opponent's smaller {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flush.

The pot put Berdichevsky at the 71,000 chip mark in the early going of Day 1d.
