Jorge "jorginho88" Abreu emerged from Day 1 of the SCOOP-14-H: $1,050 NLHE Warm-Up, $500K Gtd. as the chip leader after finishing the day with a stack of 3,543,230.

Abreu was cruising throughout the day including eliminating Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz before the money when his aces held against queens.

The Warm-Up was a huge success. By the time the 4 1/2 hour late registration period ended in this freezeout event the prize pool grew to $782,000 to smash the $500,000 with 782 players ponying up the $1,050 buy-in or qualifying in via satellites at PokerStars.

A total of 103 players cashed for at least $2,125 with the 53 surviving players guaranteed at least $2,714 with their eyes on the $131,421 top prize.

Notable players outside the top 10 on the leaderboard entering Day 2 include Nikos "justnl2" Lambropoulos, Jason "JASON.MAC100" McConnon, Anthony "holdplz" Spinella, Fahredin "FeriBo" Mustafov, Rasmus "mrvogt" Vogt, Gary "quiditbear" Hasson, Paul “Fold Machiii” Dando, and Dzmitry "colisea" Urbanovich.

Among the players to cash on Day 1 but fail to advance to Day 2 included Artem "veeea" Vezhenkov, Maksim "MAMOHT_T" Viktorovich, Sean “MonkeyBudg” Prendiville, and Pascal "Päffchen" Hartmann.

PokerStars Team Pro Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas and Online Team Pro members and popular Twitch streamers Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis, Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, and Ben "Spraggy" Spragg all entered the Warm-Up but failed to cash.

Spragg went the deepest of the quartet and seemed primed for a big run but instead fell short of the money when his queens didn't hold against the ace-jack suited held by his opponent.

The action resumes Monday, May 4 at 5:05 p.m. GMT / 1:05 EDT with a few minutes remaining in Level 24 with blinds at 17,500/35,000 with an ante of 4,500. Stay tuned at PokerNews to see who will be crowned the champion of the SCOOP-14-H: $1,050 NLHE Warm-Up, $500K Gtd.
