The flagship tournament of the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has crowned a champion and one of the most-coveted titles in the world of online poker is heading to Belarus as "Alexgirs" topped a star-studded final table in SCOOP-74-H: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max, Main Event]. In heads-up, "Alexgirs" defeated Pablo "pabritz" Brito and claimed the top prize of $920,596 in a field of 609 entries.

They cut a deal with Brito ($764,942) and third-place finisher Alex "dynoalot" Difelice ($722,075) who both took home a big slice of the $6,090,000 prize pool. Once the deal was agreed upon, the hunt for the title and $50,000 in cash for the eventual winner turned into a roller coaster ride as all three held the lead several times.

It wasn't the first victory for the player from Belarus on PokerStars in 2020 as they already High Rollers 37: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max] in April for a payday of $215,927.76. However, a SCOOP Main Event title and the merits that come along with it are yet another dimension.

For runner-up Brito, it would have been another major highlight in 2020 as the Brazilian won the $10,300 MILLIONS South America Main Event for $1,000,000 earlier this year and also took down the inaugural online edition of the Irish Open for €462,100.

Third-placed Difelice is certainly no slouch at the online poker tables either as the Canadian has two WCOOP titles to his name and now cashed for more than $5.2 million in MTT's under his moniker "dynoalot" on PokerStars.

The trio atop had to overcome a slate of big names on the final table. 2019 WCOOP Main Event finalist Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts finished 4th, Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress had to settle for 5th, the WSOP bracelet winners Michael "imluckbox" Addamo and Max "goodeh99" Silver bowed out in 6th and 7th place respectively while Raise Your Edge founder Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle came in 8th and Finnish high stakes player "EEE27" was the first casualty of the day.

Final Table Action at a Glance

"EEE27" entered the final table as the shortest stack and became the first casualty after they lost a flip with eights against the ace-queen of Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress. For poker coach Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, the final table kicked off in rough fashion as he lost a portion of his stack and then flopped a flush only for Max "goodeh99" Silver to river a full house when all the chops went in. Rolle bowed out shortly after when his dominated ace found no help.

As Dvoress built up momentum and a sizable lead, he jammed into Pablo "pabritz" Brito and lost a big portion of his stack with queen-ten suited versus ace-king. That triggered a sudden burst of action as Silver lost a flip with tens against the ace-king of Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts and Michael "imluckbox" Addamo ran with ace-king into the aces of Alex "dynoalot" Difelice.

Daniel Dvoress
Roller Coaster Day for Daniel \"Oxota\" Dvoress

Dvoress emerged as the chip leader once more with five players remaining but crashed out next as "Alexgirs" sent the High Roller regular from Canada out in 5th and subsequently knocked out Aerts in 4th. Some back and forth ensued and the final three players then agreed on a deal.

In remarkable fashion, "Alexgirs" went from chip leader to short stack with just five blinds only to double three times through Difelice. They would also score the knockout of Difelice to enter heads-up even in chips with Brito. Fireworks from both players saw the lead change several times and "Alexgirs" then scored a massive double when they called down a triple barrel bluff with king-jack high for nearly all the chips. It was over soon after that as the title went to Belarus.

Veldhuis and Spragg Set New Twitch Record

Another major story of the late stages in the event was the deep run of the PokerStars ambassadors Ben "Spraggy" Spragg and Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis, who both made it to Day 3 and streamed their action live on the Twitch platform. They ended up on the same table and Veldhuis even knocked out his fellow PokerStars ambassador. By then, Spragg had attracted 17,000 viewers and they all joined Veldhuis for the remainder of his stream.

The number of viewers peaked at 58,799, which was not only a new record for the Dutchman but the most viewers for any poker stream on Twitch so far and became the no.1 ranked stream on the entire Twitch platform worldwide. Velhuis fell short of the final table and finished in 15th place.

That wraps up the PokerNews Main Event coverage, however, there are more exclusive SCOOP tournament updates to follow until the end of the extended schedule on May 31st, 2020.

Pablo "pabritz" Brito Eliminated in 2nd Place ($764,942)

Level 46 : 700,000/1,400,000, 175,000 ante

Pablo "pabritz" Brito ended up all-in and at risk for the last 11 big blinds and change on the button and he was called by "Alexgirs" in the big blind.

Pablo "pabritz" Brito: {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
"Alexgirs": {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades} board provided no help for the Brazilian and he departed in second place. Thanks to the three-handed deal, he takes home $764,941.51 while "Alexgirs" has become the new SCOOP Main Event champion and earned $920,595.81 for his efforts.

Alex "dynoalot" Difelice Eliminated in 3rd Place ($722,075)

Level 45 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

Down to just over 11 big blinds, Alex "dynoalot" Difelice moved all-in from the small blind and "Alexgirs" called in the big blind.

Alex "dynoalot" Difelice: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
"Alexgirs": {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

"Alexgirs" paired his kicker on the {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop while Difelice had the nutflushdraw. A blank {k-Diamonds} on the turn was followed by the {9-Diamonds} river and that sent the Canadian out in third place.

As part of the three-handed deal, Difelice receives $722,074.96 for his efforts.

Lex and Spraggy Break Twitch Poker Records

Level 43 : 450,000/900,000, 112,500 ante
Lex and Spraggy breaking Twitch records
Lex and Spraggy breaking Twitch records

Last night (May 19), poker on Twitch cemented itself as one of the most nail-biting, hair-raising, even tear-jerking forms of live entertainment we have.

Both Lex Veldhuis and Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg returned to Day 3 of the $10,300 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Main Event with 40 remaining, $26,700 locked up, and a staggering $1,062,955 up top.

It’s hard to ignore numbers like that. It was a stream you simply couldn’t miss, whether you’re a complete newcomer to poker or a grizzled veteran.

As good friends, fake rivals and fellow PokerStars Ambassadors, Lex and Spraggy teamed up for a squad stream (Twitch streamers can team up so viewers can tune in to multiple streams at once, flicking back and forth between the action).

It proved perfect for last night, particularly when the two found themselves on the same table.

What happened next? The PokerStars Blog has all the details; check it out here.

Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts Eliminated in 4th Place ($414,960)

Level 42 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Down to the last 13.2 million and change and in the big blind, start-of-the-day chip leader Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts faced a button raise to 1.7 million by chip leader "Alexgirs" and moved all-in. The Belorussian took a few seconds and made the call to put Aerts at risk.

Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts: {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
"Alexgirs": {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop cemented the lead of "Alexgirs" as Aerts was drawing slim and had to hope for running sixes to double or a king and queen to chop. Neither came on the {9-Clubs} turn and {3-Diamonds} river to end his run in 4th place for $414,959.81.

Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress Eliminated in 5th Place ($303,273)

Level 42 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

"Alexgirs" made it 1.6 million to go from under the gun and Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress three-bet to 6.88 million with just over 5.1 million behind. The action folded back to "Alexgirs" and he moved all in, Dvoress called it off.

Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress: {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}
"Alexgirs": {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

It was essentially over for Dvoress on a {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and the {6-Clubs} turn made his exit in 5th place official, as the meaningless {q-Spades} rolled off on the river. Dvoress takes home $303,273.47 for his efforts.

Michael "imluckbox" Addamo Eliminated in 6th Place ($221,648)

Level 40 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante

Right after the blinds had gone up, Alex "dynoalot" Difelice minraised to 1.2 million first to act and Michael "imluckbox" Addamo three-bet jammed the small blind for around 11.25 million in chips. Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts let go from the big blind and Difelice snap-called.

Michael "imluckbox" Addamo: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Alex "dynoalot" Difelice: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

On a board of {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, no ace or queen appeared to keep Addamo in contention and the two-time bracelet winner from Australia who reps the Union flag of the UK finished in 6th place for $221,647.98.

Max "goodeh99" Silver Eliminated in 7th Place ($161,992)

Level 39 : 250,000/500,000, 62,500 ante

Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts opened the action with a raise to 1.1 million and it folded all the way around to Max "goodeh99" Silver in the big blind. Having paid the ante, Silver was down to just over 9.7 million in chips and piled them in after short consideration, Aerts called instantly.

Max "goodeh99" Silver: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Silver was ahead in a flip but the {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Spades} flop improved Aerts to top pair. Nothing changed on the {6-Spades} turn and Aerts further improved to the nutflush on the {5-Spades} river to send Silver to the rail in 7th place for $161,991.56.

Brito Doubles Through Dvoress

Level 39 : 250,000/500,000, 62,500 ante

Pablo "pabritz" Brito won a pot without showdown to pull ahead of Max "goodeh99" Silver and was in the big blind shortly after while Silver was in the small blind. Chip leader Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress simply open-shoved the button for an effective 12.8 million as he had both Silver and Brito covered by a wide margin.

Silver quickly folded while Brito activated his time bank and eventually made the call after several seconds of consideration.

Pablo "pabritz" Brito: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Brito immediately paired up on the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop and faded the gutshot or running outs thanks to the {8-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river.
