This is ... The Main Event

Welcome PokerNews' coverage of the 2014 Summer Slam at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel. For more than a week, players have been flocking to the Seneca Poker Room to compete in the first five events of the annual series. Today marks the climax of the Summer Slam as the $600 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event will kick off with the first of two starting flights.

The Main Event is a three-day tournament with registration and unlimited re-entries available for the first 10 levels on Day 1. Players will begin with 20,000 in chips and compete for 15 40-minute levels on the first day, with the eventual champion being crowned on Sunday. Last year, Andy Spears took down the $600 Summer Slam Main Event for more than $23,000.

While this is the largest buy in event held at the Summer Slam, PokerNews was also on hand to cover four of the events on the schedule over the past week. Be sure to take a look back at our coverage as we chronicled how Joe Ciffa won two titles and 10 players agreed to an event chop in Event #5 last night.

Play kicks off at 11 a.m. and we will be here providing all of the latest from the tournament floor. Be sure to stay tuned as this exciting event begins!
