Polk's Bluff Doesn't Work

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

The flop read {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Bin Weng was in the big blind and led for 8,500, Doug Polk was in the cutoff and called.

The turn was the {a-Hearts}. Weng led again for 12,500 and Polk called again.

The river came the {8-Diamonds} to pair the board. Weng slowed down and checked. Polk pushed one chip forward and announced all in for about 35,000. Weng thought for about 30 seconds before he called.

Polk stood up and showed the {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a bluff that Weng had beat with the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}, the king playing and Polk's night was over.

John Gallaher
John Gallaher

Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

Brian Green was in middle position and made a big bet of 65,000. John Gallaher, on the button, took his time and played with his chips before he called.

Green then moved all in in the dark before the river was dealt which Gallaher snap-called and turned over the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Green flashed the {7-}{7-} to show he was the victim of boat over boat as the dealer put the {a-Hearts} on the river.

Gallaher raked in the largest pot of the night so far and Green's once big stack was left with just a couple of big blinds .

Kornuth Binks River

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Action came in on the turn on a board reading {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. From middle position, Chance Kornuth bet 23,500 into a pot of what was about 18,300,

Ryan Burr was in the small blind and moved all in for 84,600. Kornuth took a few moments and called.

Burr had the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for two pair while Kornuth had the {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair and a flush draw. Burr was looking to fade a club on the river and he did, except it was the {7-Spades} to give Kornuth trips and the best hand the unconventional way and just like that Burr was sent away.

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Andrew Ivers
Andrew Ivers

Action was picked up on the river as a scary looking board of {9-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Spades} was showing. From the button, Andrew Ivers bet 12,500 into a pot of around 15,000.

Stephen Song thought for a long time before he jammed all in to force Ivers to make a decision for his tournament life. Ivers checked his cards and stewed it over for a good two minutes before he called.

Song showed the {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for flopped two pair that had become less strong as the board ran out. Ivers had that beat with the {q-Spades}{7-Spades} flush and he collected the big pot.

Clubs Are Hot; Porbandarwala Flops Straight Flush

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Soheb Porbandarwala
Soheb Porbandarwala

The theme of the day in the high roller thus far has been huge hands as there was quads in the first level and then a flopped royal flush sighting.

Most recently, a flopped straight flush was shown as Soheb Porbandarwala made a hefty river bet on a board of {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds} Jennifer Abad folded quickly and Porbandarwala tabled the {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to show he had flopped the stone-cold nuts and like the earlier flopped royal flush, it was also of clubs.
