The table had two players with cards face-up, Trent Goertz and Chris Staats. At-risk was Staats who had 16,300 and was in need of a connection with his big slick versus the pocket queens of Goertz.
Chris Staats:
Trent Goertz:
An flop rolls out on the felt and Goertz was still sitting in front. The turn left Staats with one last chance for romance and his date showed up in the river with a to take down the pot for a double.
Alexander Suprun opened to 600 and Matthew Lee then pushed, totaling around 3,000. Meghan Smith and Suprun both called. The flop rolled out and both players checked through to the turn.
Suprun led out with a bet of 6,000 and Smith jammed for more than enough to cover her opponent. Suprun called for his tournament life, having around 11,000 total and all three turned over their hands.
Matthew Lee:
Oleksandr Suprun:
Meghan Smith:
Smith had the lead with her flush and the river cemented it, dodging all the boat outs that Suprun could hit. She sent two players packing and added another early pot to her already healthy-size stack here early on Day 1a.
David Larson opened to 700 from middle position, Bryan Duplantis called in the hijack, and Mehmet Cetinkaya three-bet to 2,500 on the button. Richard Partee quickly four-bet ripped his 13,200 stack into the middle and Larson folded. Duplantis called the shove and Cetinkaya threw his cards into the muck, leaving just two for an early flip.
Richard Partee:
Bryan Duplantis:
The dealer spread out on the flop and Partee took the lead with his pair of queens. A turn left Duplantis in need of just a six to pull in the chips and lady luck was present when the dealer flipped a over in the river.
Duplantis scooped the pot with his rivered set of sixes and Partee was sent to the late registration line.
