Michael Jozoff
Michael Jozoff

The Lodge Poker Club has now seen the third flight of Event #4: $400 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed come to an end. A total of 231 entry slips were sold on Day 1c and just 28 managed to find a Day 2 bag.

Michael Jozoff ended the night with the elimination of Brian Ellison, popping the Day 2 bubble with a classic flip. The hand also catapulted him into the overall lead of this event, bagging 407,000 here on Day 1c. Prior to the final hand, it was Andrew Robinson sitting atop the chip counts of the flight but Jozoff shot by, and Robinson had to settle for second overall, bagging 334,000.

Jason Obinger landed third overall for the day with his 308,000 in chips, after a heater during the last few levels of the night. Well-known grinder Blake Whittington ended the night with a healthy-sized 276,000 and is someone to keep an eye on when Day 2 begins.

Ellison Flops a Chip Lead Pot

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Brian Ellison
Brian Ellison

Brian Ellison opened to 9,000 from middle position and Jacob Min three-bet to 25,000. Ellison called and the dealer fanned out {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} on the flop.

Min continued for 18,000 after seeing his opponent tap the table and Ellison then check-raised to 50,000. Min shoved for 137,000 and Ellison called for his entire stack of 136,000 in what was the biggest pot of the day.

Brian Ellison: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Jacob Min: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The set of sixes of Ellison were in the lead and the {2-Diamonds} turn was of concern. An {a-Spades} river sealed it for Ellison who scooped in the chip lead pot. Min had just one chip left and was eliminated during the very next hand.

Cramer Picking Up Steam

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
John Cramer
John Cramer

John Cramer moved all in for his remaining 7,000 and Randall Bott was the only player to stick around for a showdown.

John Cramer: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Randall Bott: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The board came down {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Cramer took down the pot with a flopped ace to double.

Cramer then took down two more pots, the latter being against Marcus Hsia who pushed his 25,700 stack into the middle. Cramer called and had Hsia covered.

Marcus Hsia: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
John Cramer: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The flop came down {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Hsia was well in front with his pair of nines. A {q-Hearts} brought forth the possibility of runner-runner flush for Cramer and he slapped it on the {k-Hearts} river to pull in the pot.

Hsia looked shocked as he took a walk out the door and Cramer laughed at this fortuitous run of cards to end the level.

Simmons Catapults Near the Top

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Seth Simmons
Seth Simmons

The flop showed {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and there were roughly 23,000 chips in the pot. Brian Ellison bet 12,000 and Rafael Sa'adah called.

Seth Simmons pushed his stack into the middle, totaling 62,100 and Ellison quickly folded. Sa'adah called the shove and they turned over their cards.

Seth Simmons: {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Rafael Sa'adah: {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The top two were leading the way but Sa'adah had outs to hit. An {a-Spades} rolled out on the turn, leaving Simmons in front and he held on when the {8-Diamonds} completed the board.

Simmons pulled in the pot, catapulting him near the top of the field, while Sa'adah was left short in the process.

Bonu Starts Pulling Chips Early

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Andrew Bonu
Andrew Bonu

Andrew Bonu has taken a seat here in Day 1c and has already taken down a few pots. In the latest hand he opened to 1,500 and only Darrin Wright called to see the {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop with Bonu.

Wright check-called a bet of 1,000 from Bonu and the {4-Spades} peeled off as a turn card. Both players checked through to the {10-Clubs} river where Wright bet 1,000.

Bonu swiftly piled up a stack of 13,000 and pushed it into the middle. Wright took a brief moment but ultimately, he threw his cards into the muck and Bonu collected another early pot.
