After 156 hands on the final table, Event #3: $25,000 No Limit Hold'em has come to an end with Stephen Chidwick prevailing as the champion. Chidwick will happily pocket $374,000 and the lead in the US Poker Open after defeating Keith Tilston in heads-up play.

The two players battled heads-up for a little over 50 hands and the chip lead swung back and forth numerous times. Tilston held a comfortable lead at one point and had Chidwick on the ropes, drawing to just six outs on the river. Chidwick spiked the river to double into the chip lead and carried the momentum going forward.

After cracking Tilston's pocket queens with a flopped flush, Chidwick held the largest lead of the final table and secured the win just one hand later. Tilston moved all in with {k-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Chidwick snap-called holding {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Tilston was eliminated in second place for $242,000.

With the win, Chidwick moves into first place in the running for the inaugural US Poker Open title. This is Chidwick's second final table of the series, finishing in fifth place for $54,400 in Event #1. When asked about how it would feel to win the US Poker Open, Chidwick was full of confidence. "I'm feeling really good right now. I would love to win the trophy, even though it might be awkward to pack."

The first of four $25,000 events attracted a total of 44 entries that made up a prizepool of $1,100,000. The opening day played down to the official final table with Nick Schulman being eliminated in seventh place. Schulman was able to pocket a min-cash of $55,000 before he hit the rail.

Day 2 started out with six players returning to their seats after a day off on Sunday. Tilston and Daniel Negreanu shared the chip lead but it didn't take long for the chips to start flying. After a few double ups from Chidwick, Brent Hanks, and Seth Davies, the players knew they were in for the long haul.

It took until the 35th hand in a blind vs blind situation, bust out first bustout to occur. Davies was all in with pocket sevens and was up against the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Tilston. The flop gave Tilston two pair and Davies was unable to hit a seven as he became the first player eliminated.

Just a few hands later, Hanks was on the short stack and faced with an all in from Chidwick in the small blind. Hanks called from the big blind and was flipping against Chidwick's small pair. The turn card gave Chidwick a full house and Hanks was left drawing dead, becoming the fifth-place finisher.

Jake Schindler took over the chip lead at one point of four-handed play, but after a river-bluff gone bad against Chidwick, he was left with under eight big blinds. Schindler shoved all in with {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} and was called by Chidwick holding {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Schindler was unable to connect with the board and exited the tournament in fourth place.

When three-handed play began, the chip stacks were fairly even. It took a string of bad runouts for Daniel Negreanu to be chipped away at and the fan-favorite finally had enough. He moved his remaining stack of just over a million chips into the middle with {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} from the big blind. He was called by Tilston with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Negreanu would need some help. Tilston hit an ace on the flop and Negreanu was drawing dead by the turn, as he headed off to play in the Mixed Game Championship. That left the final two, Chidwick and Tilston, to battle it out heads-up for the title.

With that, the majority of the players have headed back inside the Aria Resort and Casino poker room to join Event #4: $25,000 Mixed Game Championship. That event will also be playing down to a final table today before resuming on PokerGO tomorrow.

Keith Tilston Eliminated in 2nd Place ($242,000)

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Keith Tilston
Keith Tilston

Hand #156: Keith Tilston was left with under six big blinds and he put them in the middle. Stephen Chidwick had no problem to call with ace-high.

Tilston: {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Chidwick: {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Tilston had two live cards but he didn't get a piece of the {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} board. Chidwick, who was himself one card away from busting a few moments ago, eliminated Tilston in second place for a $242,000 reward. "You played really well," Chidwick told Tilston when they shook hands.

Chidwick, who already finished fifth in the opening $10k event, took home $374,000. He climbed to the top of the leaderboard with $428,400 in US Poker Open earnings. He's expected to join the $25k Mixed Event later tonight.

Hands #143-147: Chidwick Survives Elimination After Hitting Six-Outer on the River

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Hand #143: Stephen Chidwick limped in with {J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Keith Tilston checked his {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, setting a trap. The {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts} flop was exactly what could Tilston hope for, allowing Chidwick flop top pair. Chidwick, however, checked back and they continued to the {5-Spades} turn. Tilston fired 200,000 and Chidwick called. The {4-Hearts} river didn't scare Tilston who bet another 400,000. Chidwick called to see the bad news. "Nice bet," he complimented Tilston.

Hand #144: Tilston peeled {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and limped in. Chidwick checked with {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and the {6-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} hit the felt. Tilston bet 100,000 in position and Chidwick floated to see the {6-Hearts} turn where Tilston barreled for 300,000. Chidwick check-folded.

Hand #145: Tilston received a walk.

Hand #146: Tilston limped again, that time with {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Chidwick tapped with {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and they looked at the {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Chidwick checked and called Tilston's 150,000-bet. The {K-Diamonds} turn was checked by both players and the {8-Spades} landed on the river. Chidwick checked for the third time and Tilston gave up, checking his seven-high.

Hand #147: Chidwick limped in with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Tilston checked {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} to outflop his opponent on the {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Tilston led out 200,000 with his top pair and Chidwick called. The {7-Spades} turn card gave Tilston two pair and he overshoved for 1.14 million effective.

Chidwick threw in few chips, calling. He found himself in a disastrous shape, drawing just for six cards in the deck. Tilston was close to finishing him off but the dealer was against it. The {9-Diamonds} river rescued Chidwick who remained in his seat, suddenly stacking up a huge double up that catapulted him to the chip lead.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 3rd Place ($165,000)

Level 23 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Hand #103: Daniel Negreanu raised to 100,000 with {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Keith Tilston three-bet to 350,000 out of the small blind. That was enough to rake in the pot.

Hand #104: Tilston opened the button to 125,000 and big blind Negreanu shoved all-in for 1,020,000. Tilston reluctantly called.

Negreanu: {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Tilston: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

"Alright, drawing live, I love it," Negreanu said after seeing his opponent's cards. He started joking about "old school woodoo", believing he would double up.

The board, however, ran {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs} to leave Negreanu drawing dead on the turn. He picked up $165,000 for his third place finish.

"Off to mixed games I go," Negreanu said, wishing good luck to the last two men standing.

Hand #67: Jake Schindler open-shoved for 295,000 from the button and Stephen Chidwick quickly called after peeling a monster in the big blind.

Schindler: {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Chidwick: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The {3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop was unimpressive but the {9-Diamonds} turn gave Schindler an open-ended straight draw while Chidwick had a flush draw. The {3-Hearts} river changed nothing, leaving Schindler beat. Schindler departed in fourth place, taking home $110,000.

Hand #43: Stephen Chidwick moved all in with {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} in the small blind and Brent Hanks snapped him off for his last 250,000 with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Hanks picked up some outs to counterfeit Chidwick. However, the {2-Diamonds} on the turn gave Chidwick a full house and Hanks was drawing dead to the {10-Spades} on the river. Hanks exited the tournament in fifth place but will stake home $88,000 for his efforts.

Hand #35: The action was once again folded to the small blind as Davies limped in with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Keith Tilston made it 70,000 with {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} in the big blind and was met with an all in for 815,000 from Davies. Tilston asked for a count and burned through a time extension before making the call.

It was a race between the two players and the flop came {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs} giving Tilston top two pair. The {k-Spades} on the turn and the {j-Hearts} on the river were no help to Davies as he became the first player eliminated at the final table.

Negreanu & Co. Return for Final Day of Event #3: $25,000 No Limit Hold'em

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

The Super Bowl Sunday allowed players to wind down from the immense action at US Poker Open but the high stakes heroes return to the grind today. Six players come back to the Aria Resort and Casino at noon local time to battle it out in the Event #3: $25,000 No Limit Hold'em.

The first of three $25k NLH tournaments slated for the inaugural US Poker Open kicked off Saturday, February 3, drawing a total of 44 entries. Canadian superstar and Las Vegas resident Daniel Negreanu hardly skips any high stakes action that takes place in his backyard and the all-time winningest player once again stole the spotlight coming into the series.

Just like at the 2017 Poker Masters, Negreanu offered to bet $50,000 on himself against anyone in a must-win leaderboard title race. Negreanu found customers in Benjamin Pollak and Bryn Kenney and while he bricked the first two events, he's ready to take the pole position in Event #3. Whoever wins the tournament is set to claim a $374,000 first prize along with a provisional lead in the hunt for the US Poker Open Trophy.

Negreanu is in great shape to doing so as he lies in second place with 1,700,000 in chips, on the heels of the chip leader Keith Tilston who is on 1,734,000.

USPO - Event #3: $25,000 NLH final table:

3Jake SchindlerUnited States999,000
4Seth DaviesUnited States335,000
5Keith TilstonUnited States1,734,000
6Stephen ChidwickUnited Kingdom519,000

Interestingly, Negreanu was the first player to bust the tournament but he gained traction after firing his second bullet, finishing the day with huge piles in front of him. Negreanu was responsible for breaking the bubble, cracking Dan Shak's kings with deuces to force him out in eighth place. Tilston then dispatched Nick Schulman in seventh to establish himself as the chip leader for the six-handed final table.

While there's a decent cushion between the two biggest stacks and the remaining finalists, it won't be a cakewalk for Tilston and Negreanu. They will face off against a highly talented competition. Pennsylvania's all-time top-earning player, 2017 Super High Roller Bowl runner-up Jake Schindler sits in third with 999,000, followed by Stephen Chidwick (519,000) and Seth Davies (335,000). Brent Hanks is the only finalist in possession of a sub 20-big blind chip-stack. He returns to 213,000.
