It has been a stunning success for the return of the Winamax Poker Open after a hiatus of three years and the series at the Casino Gran Madrid in Torrelodones on the outskirts of the Spanish capital convinced with incredible numbers. Most certainly standing out is the 2022 Winamax Poker Open Madrid €500 Main Event, which will play down to a winner as of 12.30 pm noon local time today.

Out of a record-setting field of 2,182 entries, only 24 players remain and they will be aiming to secure the top prize worth €130,000 in the biggest six-handed live poker tournament of French online poker and sports betting giant Winamax. Only five different countries are represented with Spain and France sharing most of the final contenders.

Samuel Anclevic Bifarella leads the way with a stack of 9,500,000, which is good enough for 79 big blinds when the action resumes with 25:16 minutes remaining in level 37 at blinds of 60,000-120,000 and a big blind ante of 120,000. Close behind are Adrian Garcia Marin (9,000,000) and Nicolas Vayssieres (8,505,000) while Pierrick Letalleur (7,915,000) and Omar Del Pino (6,650,000) round out the overnight top five.

Lithuania's Gytis Juskevicius (6,000,000), Day 1d chip leader Joaquim Marques (4,430,000) of Portugal and Adriano Abbracciavento (3,400,000) from Italy will aim to avoid a victory for Spain or France, which appears to be likely at this point.

Notables still in the mix include Julien Da Silva (4,380,000), Hugues Mazerolle (3,785,000), as well as the two Spanish poker veterans Juan Manuel Pastor (2,830,000) and Sergio Alonso Camunas (635,000).

All 24 finalists have locked up a payday of €4,500 so far and the next payday awaits after the next elimination. Reaching the seven-handed final table will secure a cash of at least €19,230 and the pay jumps from there on will certainly be significant.

The final day will be broadcasted on the Winamax Twitch and YouTube channels. Furthermore, the PokerNews live reporting team will also be on the floor from start to finish until a winner has been crowned in the record-setting 2022 Winamax Poker Open in Madrid.

Updates on a Delay for the Final Day

Since the action of the final day will be broadcasted on the Spanish and French Winamax Twitch channels, all PokerNews live updates will be published on a 30-minute delay in order to not spoil any of the action.

All 24 players are currently unbagging their chips and the tournament will recommence in real time shortly.

Adrian Garcia Marin raised from an early position and Sergio Alonso Camunas three-bet jammed out of the big blind, having invested two of his five blinds due to the big blind ante format already. Garcia Marin called and the cards were tabled.

Sergio Alonso Camunas: {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Adrian Garcia Marin: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} board provided no help to the Spaniard and he became the first casualty of the final day.

Julien Da Silva open-shoved the small blind into the big blind of Angel Rodriguez Sanchez and the Spaniard called all-in for around 1.7 million.

Angel Rodriguez Sanchez: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Julien Da Silva: {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The {q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop propelled Da Silva into the lead but the tides turned on the {k-Spades} turn, the {9-Hearts} river then secured the double up of Rodriguez Sanchez.

One table over, Hugues Mazerolle bet the {q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{a-Clubs} river for 700,000 in the small blind. Adrian Garcia Marin called but mucked when the Mazerolle tabled the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.
