After four days of intense action on the felt a stacked field of 1,229 runners was whittled to just 36, and today that number was pared down to form one of the most exciting spectacles in the game: a World Poker Tour televised final table.

The showdown to decide six of the most coveted seats in the Borgata began at high noon, and soon after that the bloodletting began. Players joined the battle in earnest, trying desperately to escape the onslaught of escalating blinds and antes, and by the second level of the day players were busting seemingly every few hands.

Dangerous professionals fell by the wayside along the way, including Chad Brown (26th), Faraz Jaka (22nd), Byron Kaverman (21st), Ronit Chamani (13th) and Chris Reslock (10th).

Along the way, a few floor decisions were necessary - first to correct Farid Jattin's raising action when players were unsure if he was calling or not - and again when a dealer's miscalled raise amount confused Bryan Choi into putting the wrong amount of chips in the middle. Despite those bumps in the road though, the path to the six-handed TV final table was rather smooth, and within 12 hours the 36 survivors had been whittled down to seven, with each sweating a truly life-changing bubble.

Unfortunately for Kunal Patel, he would be the one left outside looking in, as he fell in 7th place to end the night along with his deep run.

After Patel made his exit, the tournament area broke out in raucous applause and celebration, as the six remaining players hugged and shook hands, exchanged details with their friends on the rail, and simply soaked in the moment.

Below you will find the seating assignments and chip counts for the six-handed final table - along with payout information - which will kick off tomorrow at 4 p.m. local time. Check back with PokerNews then to see who will emerge victorious, becoming the next player to have their name engraved on the glittering WPT Champions Cup.

Kunal Patel Eliminated in Seventh Place ($135,172)

Kunal Patel was in the cutoff, and he called a preflop raise of 230,000 from Anthony Maio. After a flop of {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Maio bet 180,000. Patel made the call, and the two saw a {2-Diamonds} arrive on the turn. Maio checked, and Patel bet 400,000. Maio raised to 1,075,000, and Patel pushed all in.

Maio snap-called, tabling {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a turned set.

"Sick," Patel said softly, holding his {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} limply. Maio gave a muted mini-celebration, as if he was afraid of overdoing it in case the river broke his heart.

When the dealer burned and turned the {4-Diamonds}, Maio let loose with a fully audible yell and clap before offering a handshake to an exiting Patel.

"Yes, I Liked That Door Card..."

Robert Merulla Avoided Becoming the TV Table Bubble Boy With a
Robert Merulla Avoided Becoming the TV Table Bubble Boy With a

After opening to 245,000 from under the gun, Farid Jattin watched Robert Merulla three-bet jam for 1.27 million more.

Jattin asked for a count but before he could find out the accurate information, he suddenly announced a call and tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Merulla could only muster the {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and he would need to find some paint to catch up. The dealer burned a card and flashed the flop, with the {q-Hearts} appearing right in the window.

Merulla's expression never so much as flinched, and when the full flop was revealed to be {q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} he found himself fading five outs on the televised final table bubble.

The turn ({9-Clubs}) and river ({7-Spades}) offered no help to Jattin, and with that Merulla secured the most important double up of his poker career.

Jared Jaffee asked Merulla if he liked the door card much, and his poker face finally cracked just a bit.

"I mean, it was still a sweat..." he said, his grin spreading wider as he told the tale. "But yes, I liked that door card."

Jattin's Got the Kicker

Level 31 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Farid Jattin raised to 230,000 from early position, and everyone folded to Kunal Patel, who defended his big blind.

Both players checked the {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop, and Patel fired out 330,000 on the {5-Hearts} turn. Jattin made the call, and he immediately called the {3-Clubs} river when Patel bet 700,000. Patel showed {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for top pair, but Jattin's {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} was best.

Jaffe Takes From Maio With Huge Four-Bet

After an open to 225,000 by Jared Jaffe in the hijack, Anthony Maio put him to the test with a three-bet to 525,000 from the cutoff.

Jaffee was undeterred, however, and his response was to make one of the largest four-bets of the tournament thus far, reraising to 1.4 million.

Maio went into the tank to deliberate on what may be the most important bubble of his poker career. With an appearance at the televised final table on the line, Maio checked and rechecked his hole cards and counted out stacks, before flicking his cards away to forfeit the pot.

Farid Jattin opened for a raise to 175,000 on the button, and Justin Lunin-Pack jammed for about 1 million in the big blind. Jattin called right away with {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, and his opponent had {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

"Good call," a player at the table said.

It got even better when the board ran out {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{a-Spades}, giving Jattin a full house to eliminate Lunin-Pack, who notched a cash that's roughly triple his career recorded earnings.
