Day 2 Started

Playing Down to a Final Table Today!

Over the last two days, 306 players have walked through the doors of Harrah’s Rincon with hopes that they will be the next player to etch their name into the history books as a WSOP-C Main Event Champion. Today, we will play from the 43 still alive, down to the final nine. Welcome to Day 2 of the WSOP-C Rincon Main Event!

Two players have emerged above the rest as our chip leaders, and amazingly, they are separated by just two antes. David Randall late registered for Day 1a after finishing third in the $1,000 buy in event earlier that day. He hit the ground running, and worked his stack up to 330,000 by days end. However, he was topped yesterday by Lynda Tran, who used a huge pot in the 16th level yesterday to propel herself to a stack of 331,000. She is the chip leader coming into today.

We have a handful of notables joining these two lucky players today. This list includes Soi Nguyen (298,000), Eric Baldwin (260,000), Ray Henson (185,000), Valentin Vornicu (112,500), Shawn Daniels (78,000),Chad Brown (59,500) and David Singontiko (46,500).

There will be one number that the players have in mind as they come in today: 33. That is the number of players who will be in the money. That means that ten unfortunate players will leave this afternoon empty handed. Once the bubble bursts, the remaining players will race to the final table, where we will end play today.

The players will be coming in soon, and start unbagging their chips. By tonight, we will know who the nine elite players are that make up the next WSOP-C final table! Be sure to stay tuned here at Pokernews as we bring you all the action on this December Sunday!

Luna Rivers Turnage

There is plenty of action early on, as the short stacks are looking for a quick double up. One of those was Jason Turnage, who put his tournament life at risk with {3-}{3-}. He was up against the {a-}{k-} of Rene Luna, and Turnage was ahead after the flop, {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and the turn, the {4-Spades}. However, the {a-Clubs} hit the river, and Turnage was eliminated.

After that hand, Luna is up to 130,000.

Bumpas Doubles Through Stewart

Brian Bumpas put his tournament life at risk in mid-position holding {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. It folded around to Casey Stewart in the small blind, and he shoved to isolate. The big blind folded, and Stewart tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

The flop was a disaster for Bumpas, coming {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}. A disappointed Bumpas started to get up from the table, but he sat back down when the {k-Diamonds} hit the turn. The river brought the {6-Hearts}, and Bumpas collected the double up to 120,000. Meanwhile, Stewart drops to 125,000 after the hand.

Nguyen Takes The Chip Lead

We walked into the middle of a huge pot developing between Soi Nguyen and Kwinsee Tran. The board had been completed, running out {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts}. There was already at least 60,000 in the middle, and Nguyen bet out 35,000. Tran spent about 90 seconds in the tank before flashing the {q-Diamonds} and mucking his hand.

Nguyen showed a {k-} before mucking his other card, and after that pot, he is our new chip leader at 390,000. Meanwhile, Tran drops to 140,000.

Randall Cracks Half a Million

We missed the hand that did it, but table mate Shawn Daniels gave us the cliff notes. David Randall raised it up, and Casey Stewart three bet it. Randall moved all in with {4-}{4-}, and Stewart made the call with {a-}{k-}. The board ran all low cards, and Randall collected the bounty, and upped his stack to over 500,000.

Tough Day For Tran

Things haven't been going Lynda Tran's way so far. Our chip leader coming into today has lost every pot she is entered, and she is now sweating the money bubble as one of the short stacks with 105,000.
