Scott Baumstein Eliminated in 26th Place ($5,914)

Scott Baumstein opened for 24,000 from the cutoff, then Feming Chan raised to 68,000 from the button. The blinds stepped aside, Baumstein shoved for about 300,000, and Chan called the reraise.

Baumstein showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, but had run into Chan's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The board rolled out {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and Baumstein is our first elimination of Day 3.

Grimes Goes Up, Overton Down

Aaron Overton has had a rough start to Day 3, having quickly slipped from the upper reaches of the chip counts to the lower division.

Just now Terry Grimes opened for 35,000 from the button and got a single caller in Aaron Overton from the small blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Overton checked, and Grimes responded with an all-in push for 348,000.

Overton tanked for some time, then finally called Grimes's shove, tabling {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the open-ender. Grimes turned over {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}, and when the turn came the {Q-Diamonds} and river the {7-Diamonds}, Grimes survived with a big double up while Overton tumbled further.

Gino Levrini Eliminated in 25th Place ($5,914)

Feming Chan has claimed a second victim already today, thereby reducing the field to 24.

Following a Chan raise from the hijack seat to 28,000, Gino Levrini reraised all in for 140,000 from the small blind, and Chan called.

Levrini: {J-Spades}{10-Spades}
Chan: {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The community cards came {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, and Levrini was eliminated. Meanwhile, Chan is now approaching the 1 million-chip mark.

Paul Mullins Eliminated in 24th Place ($6,902)

Following a Barry Leventhal raise to 34,000 from early position, it folded around to Paul Mullins in the small blind who reraised all in for about 70,000. The big blind folded, and Leventhal called.

Mullins had picked up a nice hand for his short stack with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, but Leventhal's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} was nicer. The board came {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and Mullins is out.

MacKinnon Scores Big Double Through Nguyen

Brian Nguyen limped in from under the gun, and when the action folded around to Douglas MacKinnon in the small blind he raised to 65,000. It folded back to Nguyen who reraised all in, and MacKinnon called all in for 499,000 total — just a touch less than Nguyen's stack.

Nguyen flipped over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, but MacKinnon had {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. The flop came {5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and MacKinnon still led, but the turn brought the {Q-Spades} and gave the lead to Nguyen. Then came the river… the {K-Hearts}!

MacKinnon survived the hand, doubling to more than a million, while Nguyen fell back to just 9,000 chips. Nguyen managed a small double-up on the next hand (through MacKinnon), but remains on the super-short stack.
