Henderson Leads Entering Final Day

The third and final day of the 2012-13 World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Cherokee is set to begin in 30 minutes or so, and the overwhelming chip leader of the remaining 11 players is Hugh Henderson. Henderson bagged over four million chips, giving him a quarter of the chips in play, and the next closest competitor is Jonathan Moseley (2.395 million). Henderson finished third in Event #53 of the 2012 WSOP, earning $322,866.

George Zinaty is the only other play to bag over two million chips. Zinaty won a massive pot off of Fernando Tobal, when he open shoved for three-times the pot with a flush draw. Tobal called with two pair, and Zinaty hit Broadway on the river.

Once there is a single elimination today, the remaining 10 players will combine to make an unofficial final table. From there, we will play until there is one player standing, and that player will earn $250,380, a seat into the Souther Comfort Proof 100 WSOP National Championship, and a seat into the 2013 WSOP Main Event.

On just the second hand of the day over on Table 3, it folded around to James Kinney in the small blind who raised enough to put his neighbor — short stack Mark Handy — all in, and Handy called from the big blind for his last 250,000 or so.

Kinney had {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Handy {A-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. The flop came {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and Handy began calling for a saving six. But the turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and the river the {8-Clubs}, and Handy is out.

They might have stopped to redraw to a ten-handed table at that point, but an all-in situation has come up at the next table, too… stay tuned.

Just as Mark Handy was being eliminated in 11th on the other table, Table 2 also saw an all-in confrontation take place. Kory Kilpatrick opened in early position, Todd Osborne three-bet jammed for around 500,000 in middle position, and the action folded back to Kilpatrick, who quickly called.

Kilpatrick: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Osborne: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, and Osborne was eliminated. We are now at an official final table of nine players, and play will resume shortly.

Meet the Final Nine

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
The official final table
The official final table

Here's some information about the eclectic group that makes up our final nine players...

John Bowman of Hickory, North Carolina works in roofing and lists this final table as his first major poker accomplishment. The 30-year-old is married and with a two-year-old son whom he loves to death.

Hugh Henderson of Greenville, South Carolina is a 30-year-old former executive recruiter who has been playing poker professionally for the last six year. Last summer Henderson finished third in Event No. 53 at the WSOP ($1,500 NLHE), a finish worth $322,866. Sporting a Clemson Tigers shirt, he's never missed a Tigers home game in 25 years.

Kory Kilpatrick of Athens, Georgia is a professional poker player who has won extensively online while also having begun racking up live scores at a rapid clip over the last two years. He cashed seven times at last summer's WSOP in Las Vegas, including in the Main Event. He also played basketball at Rhodes College.

James Kinney lives in Charlotte, North Carolina where he works as a performance coach. The 49-year-old has a few nice scores on his poker resume, including a second-place finish in a $580 NLHE event at the WSOP-C Tunica stop back in January that earned him $22,739. He's also a top-rated fencer.

Jerry Monroe was born in Germany and now resides in Columbus, Georgia where he works as a real estate investor. The 45-year-old is married with two kids, and describes himself as a "weekend warrior" poker-wise. That said, he's had quite an accomplished part-time career, and in fact has a WSOP Circuit Main Event title under his belt, having won the 2011-12 Biloxi ME and a cool $112,779 first prize.

Jonathan Moseley is a 29-year-old poker player with over $100,000 in tournament winnings including a first place in the Gulf Coast Poker Championship in Biloxi last summer for a $54,144 score. Originally from New York, the former college baseball player currently resides in Georgia.

Raymond Weaver is a 69-year-old retired train controller from McDonough, Georgia who has a few cashes over recent years, including a final table at the WSOP-C Main Event in Tunica back in February 2012 where he finished ninth. In addition to playing poker, he collects coins and sports cards.

Daniel Weinman of Atlanta, Georgia is poker pro who lists his former occupation as a lumberjack. His girlfriend finished 30th in the Ladies Event here at Harrah's Cherokee, and he lists his marital status as "probably married if I win this." Also under poker accomplishments, the 25-year-old notes "some guy gave me a rock yesterday when I busted him." Weinman additionally has over $360,000 in tourney winnings, including multiple cashes in both the WSOP and WSOPE last year.

George Zinaty, originally from Lebanon, now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 54-year-old is a retired hair stylist who owned his own salon, thus giving him the nickname "Salon George." Under "interesting things about you" he lists his four children and one grand-daughter, having won gold awards, and that he is handsome.

The First Flop

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded to Ronald Weaver, who limped in from the small blind. Chip leader Hugh Henderson checked, and the dealer fanned {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Weaver checked, Henderson tossed out 30,000, and Weaver called.

The turn was the {10-Hearts}, both players knuckled, and the {2-Spades} completed the board. Weaver led out for 60,000.

"I'll call ya," Henderson said rather quickly.

Weaver showed {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of queens, and Henderson tabled {q-Spades}{9-Hearts} for the same hand.

"What are ya calling me on the flop with?" Henderson jabbed, grinning.

Monroe Getting Shorter

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Raymond Weaver opened to 60,000 in middle position, Jerry Monroe called in the cutoff seat, and the rest of the players folded. The dealer fanned {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Weaver checked, and Monroe tossed out 75,000. Weaver quickly called.

The turn was the {2-Spades}, Weaver checked again, and Monroe tossed out another 75,000. Weaver quickly called.

The {k-Hearts} completed the board, and for the first time in the hand, Weaver led out. He plopped forward 175,000 - roughly a third of the pot - and Monroe tanked for a bit before folding.

Monroe only has 470,000 remaining, while Weaver chipped up to 1.74 million.

Hugh Adding to Huge Stack

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

James Kinney raised to 70,000 from middle position, and it folded around to chip leader Hugh Henderson who called from the big blind. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Henderson checked, Kinney continued for 80,000, and Henderson called. Both then checked the {7-Hearts} turn and {2-Diamonds} river.

"Ace," said Henderson, showing {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}, and Kinney mucked.
