Event #24: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em
Day 1a Started
Today is the start of another $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em event at the 2010 World Series of Poker. It's the third of the $1,000 events and should draw another group of between 3,000 and 4,000 players for action. Stephen Gee won Event No. 13 to take home $472,479 while Aadam Daya won Event No. 3 for $625,872. Daya was the first of the $1,000 events and as expected, the number shrunk for the second one. It's going to be interesting to see if the numbers shrink even more for the third installment of these events or if they stay right around the same as the second one which Gee won.
With the only other event that begins today being the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship later this evening, there should be plenty of players buying in today for this no-limit event. As always, PokerNews will be on hand to bring you all the coverage from Day 1a. Grab your laptop and turn on the World Cup matches for some exciting action today. Seeing as USA is taking on England as we speak, the atmosphere in the room should be buzzing with excitement. Play begins at 12:00 noon time so stay tuned!

"Shuffle up and deal" was said by an unfamiliar, yet famous, voice. The star of the Travel Channel's Ghost Hunters, Zak Bagan, is a special guest today and was invited to start off our tournament.
Ghosts can rest easy today, as of now he'll be hunting chips and a bracelet.
With such a vast field, it is uncommon to find to pros seated at the same table. That is not the case at Table 56 where Tiffany Michelle is seated right next to Hevad Khan.
There is still one empty seat there as well. Could another big name pro be assigned to Table 56?
On a board reading , Jerry Yang got all of his chips in with . Unfortunately for him, it was second best to Gabriel Alarie's . Yang was eliminated within the first few minutes of the tournament.
Tiffany Michelle was extremely short on chips, sitting with 475, when she raised to 125 from the cutoff. The player in Seat 2 made the call and the flop came .
Seat 2 checked and Michelle went all in for her remaining 350. Seat 2 made the call and showed . Michelle tabled for a set. The on the turn ensured her double up. The was run out on the river and Michelle is now sitting with around 1,000. She has some work to do.
We now know what the Pavilion Room is capable of.
The field is, well, massive. With over 2,300 entries, the Pavilion room is teeming with players ready to get their $1,000 worth of poker. It's easy to get lost in such a large field, but as always, some faces stand out.
Here are some people we noticed on a quick hike through Pavilion room:
Shannon Elizabeth
Felipe Ramos
Young Phan
Dennis Phillips
Matt Affleck
Veronica Dabul
Andrew Chen
Lauren Kling
Lars Bonding
Alan Smurfit
Kenny Nguyen
Pierre Neuville
There are bound to be more familiar faces in the crowd, and we'll update you the second we see them.
For now, we're off for another swim in the sea of people here at the Pavilion Room to bring you more live poker action
Tiffany Michelle had limited chips and was attempting to make a comeback. Unfortunately for her, the attempt fell short. She has been eliminated from the tournament early on Day 1A.
Tiffany Michelle just busted from Table 56, where she was seat right next to Hevad Khan. Well now Khan has new company in the form of 1983 World Champion Tom McEvoy.
Try as they might, Table 56 is determined to remain tough.
