Paul Lieu

In a short day of play Event 45 $1,500 Ante Only Day 2 has completed. At the start of this day 71 hopefuls were looking to grab a bracelet and first place money of $201,399. Everyone today received a minimum of $2,581. After less than 18 levels, the tournament has reached its final 9 players. Those nine players can get a good night sleep as they will be coming back tomorrow at 12:45 pm PST.

The player with the most impact and most chips heading to the final table is none other than Paul Lieu. He leads the others with 579,000. He gained the chip lead in one of the last hands of the night. He called three times when Chris Moorman bet and won with top pair by the river. Second in chips is Ben Volpe (523,000). The other notable finalist were Chris Moorman (279,000), and Blair Hinkle (182,000).

Unfortunately not all the notable players coming into today made it to day 3. Players that finished outside the final table were: Daniel Idema (49th), Gabriel Nassif (38th), Allen Cunningham (21st), David Williams (18th), David Vamplew (16th), Aaron Massey (12th), and Tommy Vedes (10th).

The final nine players will return tomorrow and they will all look to be the second Ante Only champion in the history of the WSOP. The final table seats and stacks are posted. Check out the live reporting on PokerNews tomorrow as the final 9 players play to a winner with each trying to claim the Ante Only Gold Bracelet.

Tommy Vedes
Tommy Vedes

Tommy Vedes pushed all in after Louis Bonnecaze limped. Everyone else folded and Bonnecaze insta-called.

Vedes: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Bonnecaze: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Vedes dumped all his chips as they fell over. He did have some hope however on the flop of {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.He needed another nine. The turn was the {6-Hearts}. The last card for the night would be dealt the {j-Diamonds}. Vedes was eliminated and he took 10th place for $12,054.

Joshua Macciello

After a few limps Joshua Macciello moved all in for less then 100,000. Dan Johnson who was the original limper went all in himself. The rest folded and the cards were tabled.

Macciello: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Johnson: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Macciello was behind and the board was not kind to him as it came {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-}. Macciello shook his opponents hand and left out the door.

Aaron Massey

Unfortunately the tournament has lost Aaron Massey. Massey was riding the short stack for quite some time. He got his last chips in with {k-Spades}{7-Spades}. Paul Lieu had no choice but to call with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. With that Massey was the 12th place finisher.

Massey was one of the most likable guys left in the tournament. Lieu was sad to bust Massey and said , "Not you!" The whole table got up to either handshake or give Massey a heartfelt hug. He will be missed by his table dearly.

Jason Manger
Jason Manger

Jason Manger opened to 5,000, and was called by Daniel Johnson, before Josh Macciello raised it up to 20,000. Manger then immediately shoved all in for 100,000 in chips, as Johnson’s hand flew into the muck. Macciello snap called the bet, as both players tabled their cards.

Macciello: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Manger: {a-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, as Manger was left drawing dead on the turn, when Macciello made the nut flush.

Artur Koren Eliminated in 14th Place ($9,628)

Level 16 : 0/0, 2,000 ante
Artur Koren
Artur Koren

The action started with Artur Koren opening to 50,000 in chips. He had left himself 11,500 behind, as one-by-one, his opponents folded, as it arrived at Blair Hinkle. He spent a good minute or so deliberating over the call, before finally mucking his hand. Louis Bonnecaze was the last player to act, and he tanked for a few minutes as well, before accidentally announcing "call", even though he was meant to go all in.

The flop came down {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and Koren threw in his last 11,500, and Bonnecaze called, with 500 less.

Koren: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Bonnecaze: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Koren was unable to catch a higher pair, as the board ran out the {4-Hearts} and {8-Clubs} to see him fall to just 500 in chips.

In the next hand, Koren was all in for a quarter of the ante, and after Chris Moorman’s bet of 7,000 scared everyone else out of the pot, the cards were shown.

Koren: {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Moorman: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}

This time the board favored Koren, as it ran out {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}, to see him move up to 3,500, after turning two-pair.

In the third and final hand, five players limped into the pot, as did Koren (leaving himself 1,000 behind), before Tommy Vedes raised it up to 11,500. It was enough to bring instant folds from everyone, before Koren called.

Koren: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Veded: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

Again, Koren took the lead, when the flop fell {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. However, Vedes regained his lead, when the {a-Spades} fell on the turn, and it was all over for Koren, when the {k-Hearts} completed the board.

David Vamplew
David Vamplew

Preflop Tommy Vedes raised to 9,000. Action folded to David Vamplew. He decided to move all in. Vedes had a tough decision that gave him grief for nearly 2 minutes. Eventually he made the call and the cards are flipped.

Vedes: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Vamplew: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Vamplew was behind and at the risk. The flop came {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The turn came the {8-Clubs}. The river the {j-Spades}. With that Vamplew had to exit and Vedes took his stack up to 340,000.

Vedes wanted to send out a message to Vamplew by self-titleing this hand "Greek Warlord Slays Harry Potter"

Adam Stone brought in for 500, as almost the entire table called around to David Williams. He instantly moved all in for his last 31,500, as two of his opponents mucked their hands. Chris Moorman asked for a count, before making the call, as the rest folded.

Williams: {Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Moorman: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to see Moorman flop a pair, sending Williams to the rail.

Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

A short-stacked Allen Cunningham opened the pot, before he was met with a raise from Adam Stone. The action folded back around to Cunningham, who moved all in for his remaining chips, and was snap called.

Cunningham: {A-}{k-}
Stone: {K-}{k-}

The board ran out queen-high, to see Stone rocket up to 400,000 in chips, as Cunningham added another cash to the four he already has in this year’s WSOP.
