Day 2 of Event #43: $1,500 Limit Hold'em to Get Underway Soon

Paul Mannoni, Day 1 chip leader
Paul Mannoni, Day 1 chip leader

Yesterday at the 2014 WSOP, 118 players would make it through the field of 657 entrants to return to battle it out for the money in Event #43: $1,500 Limit Hold'em. It was a tightly packed bunch at the top of the chip counts with Paul Mannoni holding only a 200 chip lead over Paul Tedeschi. Three other players, Matthew Davenport, Rob O'Shea, and Michael Lynn were all within 5,500 of Mannoni's 60,900 in chips.

There are plenty of notables sitting behind those five that have dreams of taking home the cash and glory that come with winning a WSOP bracelet. Among them are the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Brandon Shack-Harris, David Chiu, Terrence Chan, Berry Johnston, Dan Kelly, and Mike Leah. They bested a field of tough players that would see names like Phil Ivey, Tom Schneider, Rep Porter, Marcel Luske, Barry Greenstein, Greg Mueller, Stephen Chidwick, Humberto Brenes, Jeff Gross, and Eric Buchman all hit the rail before play concluded last night.

Day 2 Seat Draw

With only 72 making the money, the action will be tense in the early goings as player maneuver themselves into position to make a deep run. Play will resume within the hour and PokerNews will be here for all the action until the end of the night. Stay tuned to see who makes the money and who will advance to the final table!

Daniel Negreanu is in a good mood thus far. Cathleen Tran raised from early position on his big blind and Negreanu said "Yum, yum, yum" while telling Tran "I never fold my big blind." Negreanu's a true poker player, though, as he bluffed with that statement by folding when it got to him.

"I had jack nine suited," he said.

Tran nodded her head and said she had kings.

"You believe I had jack nine suited?" laughed Negreanu, along with the rest of the table, as they all knew he would never fold that hand for one bet. Negreanu then started to talk about the $50,000 Players Championship that starts tomorrow night. "After I win this, I go jump in that," he told Tran.

"I like the way you think," Tran said. A few moments later it would be Tran's big blind and Negreanu would say "raise maximum" when it was folded to him on the button. She would fold and Negreanu would recoup his big blind she had taken a few moments earlier.

Abou Risk Takes Some From Lisandro

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Jeff Lisandro opened for a raise and Nick Abou Risk made it three bets to go. It was folded back to Lisandro who made the call. The flop came {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Lisandro checked. Abou Risk bet and Lisandro made the call. Both players would check the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {3-Clubs} river.

"No pair," said Lisandro and Abou Risk turned over {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for queens and tens, good enough to take down the modest pot.
