The Biggest International WSOP Circuit Stop Just Got Bigger!

The Biggest International WSOP Circuit Stop Just Got Bigger at The Star Sydney

The WSOP International Circuit will return to Australia’s leading integrated resort in just a few weeks time when the 2018 WSOP commences in The Star Poker Room in Sydney.

With pristine views of the Sydney Harbour, poker players rarely need an incentive to travel to this world-class poker room. However, the allure of the ‘money can’t buy’ WSOP Gold Rings that winners of all circuit events receive will ensure that players come from far and wide for the biggest tournament of the WSOP International season.

If you’re not the sentimental type and gold rings don’t do it for you, then perhaps the record-breaking $4.5 million in guaranteed prize money will get your attention. The final prize pool amount is predicted to be much bigger, though, with massive crowds expected to descend on the Star Poker Room for the biggest poker series in Sydney’s history.

There are 15 Championship Events being played out over three weeks of non-stop poker action.

"having a world-class poker room like the one at The Star which attracts tournaments as big as the World Series of Poker is the icing on the cake."

The first chance to pursue a WSOP Gold Ring commences on Tuesday, November 27 when the Opening Event kicks off. With four flights for players to enter and $600,000 in guaranteed prize money, the winner of this tournament will be in for a truly memorable experience.

There is something for every poker player in this series. Be it the Turbo Event, the Ladies Event, The Masters Event, or the NLH 6 Max with a $400,000 guarantee, all poker players have been catered for. For those looking to see the best in action, there is the $5k Challenge with a whopping $1 million guarantee, or the $20,000 High Rollers Event where players and fans alike can enjoy watching poker’s elite battle it out.

Of course, the Main Event is the one that everybody wants to win and with a $2.1 million guarantee, it is easy to see why. Last year, Michael Kanaan outlasted more than a thousand players to take home the title and a tantalizing $394,837 for his efforts in a tournament he will never forget.

“Winning the WSOP Main Event was great,” Kanaan said. “It was even more amazing being able to do it here in my hometown of Sydney. Living in Sydney is great at the best of times but having a world-class poker room like the one at The Star which attracts tournaments as big as the World Series of Poker is the icing on the cake.”

On top of nearly $400,000 in prize money, Kanaan also got a free trip to America to represent The Star Sydney at the Global Championships and a shot a WSOP Bracelet. This year’s winner will get the same incredible opportunity.
