After more than nine hours of play here at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino, the clock was paused once the final six players had been decided. Tu Dao got off to an early lead after eliminating Calvin Anderson in the second level and the Canadian didn’t look back from there, remaining at the front of the pack for the remainder of the day. She takes 954,000 through to the final.

Dao’s closest rival is Alain Alinat. The Frenchman battled with a short stack at several points today, finally finishing on 805,000, a large chunk of which came from eliminating Alex Torry in 7th place. Oleg Chebotarev (672,000) rounds out the top three, with Jan Suchanek (599,000), Chad Eveslage (431,000) and Ian O’Hara (410,000) completing the final six.

Of the 193 total runners, 57 returned today and 51 were eliminated over the course of the day. Some of the notables to finish outside of the money were defending champion Yaser Al-Keliddar, Joe McKeehen, Dan Matsuzuki, two-time 2019 WSOP bracelet winner Robert Campbell, Marco Johnson and Kevin Song.

A little under halfway through the day, the bubble burst in record time, with James Little being the last player to exit without a payday. The eliminations came in thick and fast after that and again, many notables were among the casualties. They included Greg Mueller, Joao Vieira, Daniel Zack, Georgios Sotiropoulos, Day 1 chip leader Ron Carmona, Max Pescatori, Stuart Rutter, Mark Radoja (18th), Ian Johns (17th), Patrick Leonard (15th), Christopher Vitch (11th) and Jeff Shulman (8th).

The six remaining hopefuls will return on Thursday, July 11 at noon to complete the 51 minutes left of Level 20, with blinds at 15,000/30,000. Each has secured themselves at least $19,687 but with a very attractive $133,189 up top, they will undoubtedly have their eyes firmly on first place, with the title and WSOP bracelet to accompany the prize money.

In addition to live updates from PokerNews, the tournament will also be streamed on Poker Go, with a 30-minute delay. With excitement expected from the outset, tune in to find out who will be crowned the winner when play resumes on Thursday.

Alex Torry Eliminated in 7th Place ($14,545)

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
Alex Torry
Alex Torry

Just a few hands after players combined to one table, Alain Alinat opened the button and Alex Torry three-bet the big blind to 45,000, which Alinat called.

On the {9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, Torry continued for 15,000 and Alinat raised, which was enough to put Torry all in. He couldn't call quick enough and they spun their cards on their backs.

Alain Alinat: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Alex Torry: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Torry was a big favorite at that point but the {j-Diamonds} on the turn changed everything, with no queen on the {4-Diamonds} river to turn it around, Torry bubbled the official final table, finishing in a very respectable 7th place.

Jeff Shulman Eliminated in 8th Place ($14,545)

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
Jeff Shulman
Jeff Shulman

Jeff Shulman has come unstuck at the hand of Ian O'Hara. Shulman was all in preflop and Ian O'Hara and Alain Alinat were playing for a side pot. On the {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Alinat checked to O'Hara who bet 15,000 and it was enough to get Alinat to step aside.

Ian O'Hara: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Jeff Shulman: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}

Shulman was the one who needed to hit and the {6-Hearts} turn gave him a gutshot to add to his seven and five outs. The {q-Clubs} landed on the river instead, giving O'Hara a set and sending Shulman out the door.

The unofficial final table redraw will be done now for the remaining seven players.

Joshua Griffith Eliminated in 9th Place ($10,996)

Joshua Griffith
Joshua Griffith

Griffith lost at first half on his stack on the board {j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} when Chad Eveslage bet from the big blind and Griffith opted to fold after some thinking, leaving him with 25,000 chips.

A few minutes later, Griffith was down to 16,000 chips and called all-in in the small blind a raise from Oleg Chebotarev situated on the button. Tu Dao called in the big blind to create a side pot.

The flop fell {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Dao check-called a continuation bet from Chebotarev. Both checked the {k-Clubs} turn.

The river was the {8-Spades} and was checked again. Griffith didn't hit anything with {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Dao took down the pot with {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} while Chebotarev held {a-Clubs}{9-}.

Aces for Torry

Level 19 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Oleg Chebotarev raised it was called by Tu Dao and Alex Torry in the blinds.

The flop showed {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and was checked to see a {7-Clubs} on the turn. Torry bet after it was checked to him and only Chebotarev called.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and Chebotarev called Torry's bet, who tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}. Chebotarev mucked and Torry added the chips to his stack.
