Vince Vaughn, who co-starred in hit flicks such as "Swingers" and "Dodgeball," announced "Shuffle Up and Deal" to begin the festivities on what could turn out to be a record-breaking Day 1d of the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The fourth and final opening session in poker's world championship event began a few minutes after 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, and we've already seen some of the biggest stars in the game among the field of thousands of players. That includes Phil Ivey, still seeking his elusive 11th bracelet, and former world champions Chris Moneymaker and Johnny Chan.

Big Names in the Field

Ivey was spotted right off the bat in the blue section inside the Bally's ballroom. He's in the midst of one of his best WSOP's of all-time, but still hasn't won his first bracelet since 2014.

Moneymaker, the 2003 Main Event winner, is competing in his first World Series of Poker event of the summer. Last year, he ran fairly deep in the prestigious tournament, but was inevitably eliminated in 260th place, just his second Main Event cash since he won the whole thing 19 years ago.

Other notables the PokerNews live reporters will be keeping an eye on throughout Wednesday's session include vlogger Brad Owen, MSPT champion Kyna England, Allen "The Chainsaw" Kessler, Hustler Casino Live co-producer Nick Vertucci, poker pro Anthony Zinno, and many others.

Through the first three starting flights, the unofficial tally for the Main Event is 3,580 entries. Registration is open until the start of Day 2d on Friday, and it appears the tournament is in line to surpass the 2006 record of 8,773 players.

Vince Vaughn Stars in New Role

Vaughn, an award-winning actor and comedian, is serving as the WSOP's "Celebrity Master of Ceremonies" in 2022 and briefly met with the media Wednesday morning to discuss his interest in poker and his movie career.

Dressed in a Caesar costume, the "Wedding Crashers" co-star answered the most important question that was on everyone's mind — will he ever make "Dodgeball 2?"

"Yeah, they've talked about Dodgeball as well, we shot that in Vegas, we got to come here and play. That was always fun trying to get people away from the table to go shoot," Vaughn told PokerNews.

The original "Dodgeball," a classic comedy, was released in 2004, and some fans would love to one day see a sequel. It's unlikely that will happen any time soon, if ever, however.

Vaughn also told the media he loves the game of poker and is a big fan of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Phil Hellmuth.

The Day 1d festivities also included Vaughn unveiling the 2022 WSOP Main Event bracelet, which you can see below:
