Kao Saechao
Kao Saechao

Here comes Day 2 of Event #54: $2,500 Nine-Game Mix 6-Handed.

A total of 319 entries were recorded on Day 1 of this event. Of those total entries, 136 unique individuals will be returning to the felt where they will play ten 60-minute levels, with a 15-minute break after each level and a 60-minute dinner break after level 16 (approximately 8:45 p.m. local (PST) time. The money bubble will burst at 48 players, with a min-cash worth $4,084.

Leading the remaining mixed-gamers is the incredibly entertaining Kao Saechao (240,000). Right behind Saechao with his fifth WSOP bracelet notched on his belt is the red hot Brian Rast (212,100). Alongside Rast and Saechao, many other notables are set to return today. Bracelet winners Eli Elezra (196,100 chips, 4x WSOP Winner), Kevin Gerhart (158,300 chips, 3x WSOP Winner), Scott Bohlman (157,500 chips, 1x WSOP Winner), David Williams (153,100 chips, 1x WSOP Winner), and Andrew Kelsall (146,000 chips, 1x WSOP winner) round out the top twenty, and will each be looking to use their experience and expertise to navigate their way to more coveted WSOP gold hardware.

Early Casualties At a Glance

Level 11

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Kosei Ichinose started the day with just a few big bets and was eliminated right away. Matt Grapenthien also walked out of the tournament area and Peter Levine followed suit.

Levine drew one in his last hand while Craig Chait and Jim Collopy patted. Levine showed a {8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} but Chait had that beat with the {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. Collopy briefly showed his cards and tossed them into the muck.

"What is the next game, NL Hold'em?" Collopy grinned after he was reduced to a short stack.

Brunner Eliminates Siegel

Level 11

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

The hand was discovered after the final draw with Jordan Siegel all-in versus Brian Brunner.

The players tabled their hands and it was the {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}for a ten-six low held by Brunner that bested the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for a ten-eight low held by Siegel, and the latter was eliminated from the tournament.

Szymaszek Takes From Waxman

Level 11

No-Limit Hold'em

Four ways to the {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} turn, the action checked to Matt Waxman and he bet 4,800. Matt Szymaszek raised to 16,800 and that forced out Kao Saechao and David "ODB" Baker. Waxman tank-called and checked again the {a-Diamonds} on the river.

Szymaszek bet 37,500 and Waxman now spent several minutes in the tank. Saechao wanted to bet Waxman $100 to guess the exact cards of Szymaszek and Waxman folded after a very long consideration.

"Black fives," Saechao said but Szymaszek didn't join their game as he simply mucked the cards before collecting the pot.
