2021 WSOP Day 12: Negreanu Hunting for Seventh Bracelet

Day 12 of the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) featured another spectacular day at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in sunny Las Vegas with seven events in action with three of them awarding WSOP gold bracelets.

Event #18: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball was scheduled to originally end on Sunday, but instead it took one more day before Vladimir Peck bested Venkata Tayi to win his first bracelet. Meanwhile, the innovative Event #20: GGPoker $1,000 Flip & Go No-Limit Hold'em crowned its winner with DJ Alexander grabbing his first taste at WSOP, while Anthony Zinno notched his third career bracelet after defeating James Chen heads-up in Event #19: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship.

Some of the in-play events include Event #19: Seven Card Stud Championship where a certain Phil Hellmuth bagged a stack in yet another non-hold’em event.

Philip Verel Bags Millionaire Maker Day 3 Chip Lead; Michael Gathy Among Top Stacks

Day 3 of Event #17: $1,500 Millionaire Maker witnessed a total of 170 players entered out of a field of 5,330 across two starting flights whittled down to a mere 20 players, all looking to win the gold bracelet and a cool $1,000,000 in cash that awaits the eventual winner of this event.

Philip Verel from Panama City, Florida, bagged 12,665,000 in chips and is the chip leader going into Day 4. Verel is relatively unknown at the WSOP as he doesn’t even have a recorded cash to be found. He began the day with just a dozen big blinds before managing to spin it up to end the day with the chip lead.

A few former bracelet winners that move on to Day 4 include Michael Gathy (9,800,000), Luis Zedan (5,835,000,) and Daniel Lazrus (11,795,000).

Other notables such as Day 2 chip leader Darryl Ronconi (4,800,000) and Day 1b chip leader Stephen Song (7,650,000) will also move onwards to Day 4.

Day 4 starts at 12 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Oct. 12 in the Amazon Room of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The tournament resumes at Level 31 with blinds at 100,000/200,000/200,000.

Abrams Leads Again; Negreanu in the Hunt After Day 2 of Event #21 $1,500 Mixed Omaha

Scott Abrams of Henderson, Nevada is the chip leader once again after bagging the top stack of Day 1 in Event #21: $1,500 Mixed Omaha and again on Monday on Day 2. A field of 27 players will return on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to compete for a WSOP gold bracelet and the top prize of $170,269. The 641 entries generated an $855,735 prize pool.

Abrams is joined by Jordan Spurlin, Hernan Salazar, and Ryan Roeder at the top of the leaderboard, each with over 1 million chips. Abrams is looking for his first gold bracelet at the 2021 World Series of Poker after seven career top-ten finishes in mixed game varieties.

Event #21 Day 2 Top 10 Chip Counts

Other notables returning for Day 3 include Daniel Negreanu (535,000), Dylan Linde (470,000), Patrick Tardif (410,000), Ari Engel (305,000), and PJ Cha (200,000). Linde is a mixed games specialist on the hunt for his first WSOP gold bracelet and Engel will try to win his second WSOP title of the 2021 WSOP after taking down Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo just last week.

Negreanu had a rollercoaster Day 2 with several chip swings coming late in the evening. After building up his stack over the course of the day, Negreanu was on the wrong end of a four-way pot that brought him near the brink of elimination, but he soon found his way back again and ended the day with a stack that is just below average. Negreanu will return tomorrow to hunt for his seventh gold bracelet after already cashing three times at the 2021 WSOP.

Lily Killeto Bags Big as Angelina Rich Leads Day 1 of Event #23 $1,000 Ladies No Limit Hold’em

After 10 levels of play, Day 1 of Event #22 $1,000 Ladies No Limit Hold’em has concluded. There were a total of 644 entrants creating a total prize pool of $582,180. A total of 97 players are guaranteed at least a $1,633 min-cash with all of the remaining players to battle it out for the $115,694 and WSOP gold bracelet to first place.

A total of 170 remaining entrants made it through the day with Angelina Rich ending the day as the chip leader with 301,000 in chips with Lily Kiletto (290,000), Christina Gollins (260,000), and Cherish Andrews (240,000) also bagging big stacks. Some other stacks that made it through the day include Jamie Kerstetter (160,000), Ebony Kenney (91,000), Daniela Rodriguez (76,000) and Vanessa Kade (13,500).

Ladies Event Day 1 Top 10 Chip Counts

Other players who were not as fortunate in this tournament included Kitty Kuo, Melanie Weisner, Kathy Liebert, and Maria Ho, who made it to nearly the end of the day but busted in the last level.

Players will return Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. with blind levels at 1,000/2,000 and a 2,000 big blind ante. The current schedule has another 10 levels of play on Day 2 as well as Day 3 on Oct. 13 with a winner to be crowned on Oct. 14.

Elezra, Mizrachi, Arieh, Williams and Perry Bag on Day 1 in Event #23: $1,500 Eight Game Mix 6-Handed

Day 1 of Event #23: $1,500 Eight Game Mix 6-Handed attracted 484 total entries creating a prize pool of $646,140. After 15 blind levels of 40 minutes each, 144 players advanced to Day 2 and are still in contention for the bracelet.

Sachin Bhargava bagged 273,400 in chips for the Day 1 chip lead with David Gee and Jay Kerbel also advancing to Day 2 with more than 200,000.

Event #23 Day 1 Top 10 Chip Counts

There are many notables returning for Day 2 to keep their chip stacks alive en route to a WSOP gold bracelet and the $137,969 first place cash prize that accompanies it including Josh Arieh, Michael Mizrachi, David Williams, Sean Perry, and Eli Elezra just to name a few. The action should be exciting and often tomorrow as this group of mixed game players continue onward towards WSOP coveted gold.

With this mixed game lineup, the action played quickly throughout the day. Chip stacks fluctuated as all-ins were commonplace early with a no-limit and pot-limit round combined with the unique six-max mix format. Expect much of the same tomorrow when the remaining players return to play ten 60-minute levels with a one-hour dinner break after Level 21, or at approximately 8:30 p.m. local time.
