With four starting flights in the books, it’s time for Day 2 of the WSOP International Circuit $500 Opening Event from The Star in Sydney.

The tournament attracted a total of 1,444 entries, from which only 227 made Day 2 of the tournament. All the Day 1s played down to the end of level 12, and will resume today with blinds starting at 1,200-2,400 with a 400 ante.

The chip leader on Day 1A, Michael Hala, was able to hold onto that chip lead after the first flight concluded on Tuesday night and will lead the pack here today with the only stack above 300,000.

Other notables to advance include Jason Pritchard, Chad Awerbuch, Laurence Hall, Sam Capra, Antonis Kambouroglou, Todor Kondevski, Ken Demlakian, Jesse McKenzie, Shivan Abdine, Eric Assadourian and Daniel Laidlaw.

Another outstanding name that made Day 2 is Johan Lees. Lees is the defending champion of this event, and with a decent stack totaling 104,700, will try and attempt another deep run today.

The players today will play as many 40-minute level as needed before a final table of nine is reached. Breaks will occur after each three levels.

Play starts at 12:30pm. Stay tuned to PokerNews to find out who makes the final table on Day 3 and continue their quest for a WSOP gold circuit ring.
