Event #7: €10,450 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event
Day 1b Started
Welcome back to the PokerNews coverage of the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. Today is Day 1b of the prestigious event, and if it's anything like Day 1a, things won't disappoint.
The event kicked off yesterday, and it was three-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi storming to the top of the leader board. Mizrachi finished on 234,850 and seemed at times like he was out to win the tournament on the first day. Coming in behind Mizrachi are JC Alvarado, Stephane Girault, Sergii Baranov and Martial Blangenwitsch to round out the top five.
With 215 players coming out for the first flight, expectations of an overall field size of 500 runners is well within grasp. In the field expected to be greater than that of Day 1a, there are plenty of notables who will be competing. You can plan on seeing the names of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Jason Mercier, Eugene Katchalov, Marvin Rettenmaier, Tristan Wade, Roberto Romanello and even Tony G, who made a late trip down to the South of France for the event. That's just a handful of the names, so be sure to stay tuned to the coverage all day long to find out even more.
Play is scheduled the same as yesterday, with six 90-minute levels on the slate kicking off at 12:00 PM local time. Breaks of 20 minutes are scheduled following the completion of each level, and dinner break will last 90 minutes and come after the fourth level.
Next time you hear from us, the cards will be in the air. Stay tuned.

He is one of the most respected and well known poker bloggers in the world, but today he's experiencing everything from a different perspective. Marc Convey is making his World Series of Poker Europe debut, and he couldn't have picked a better event.
Convey has plenty of poker experience, as he previously played in the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas, and many other tournaments in the UK. His day will be everything but simple, since he's playing against some of the best. Among others we see Aku Joentausta, Kristijonas Andrulis, Fabian Quoss and Philippe Boucher at his table.
Quoss has World Poker Tour, GUKPT and English Open victories besides a runner up finish in the 2009 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the WSOP. Boucher won the €1,650 PLO 6-Max last year at the WSOPE, the same event Aku Joentausta finished third in yesterday. Last but not least there's Andrulis who won the EPT Talinn High Roller back in 2010, and also has WPT and WSOP final tables behind his name.

After one player checked the flop, Jason Mercier passed the action to the 1980 TIME Man of the Year Sandor Demjan. He fired 600, and only Mercier made the call.
Demjan and Mercier both checked the turn after it paired the board, and then the landed on the river. Mercier checked, and Demjan bet 1,600. Mercier called.
Demjan rolled over the for a full house, and he won the pot.
Over on Table 25, there was 4,000 in the pot and a board reading when Jonathan Little checked from the small blind and John Tabatabai, who finished as the runner-up in this very event in 2007, did the same from the hijack. Little checked for a second time on the river, and then called when Tabatabai bet 1,600. The latter rolled over and it was good as Little mucked.
"Worst table I've ever had in the Main Event," Daniel Negreanu told us after the hand. "Six players that are all winning tournament players." Not five seconds later the floor came over and informed the players that their table had been broke. "Yeah, I complained a little and put it on Twitter and now it's broke," Negreanu joked. Indeed, the players at Table 25 were scattered to the wind.
Worst starting table I've been at for a main ever. All winning players so far. 6 handed so far and all good players. This will make it toughSeptember 30 2012Follow

Players are slowly taking their seats, and that means there are still plenty of short-handed tables. One of the tables that has a very interesting line-up so far is located on the far right side of the room.
Former World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel is facing one of his former final table opponents in Filippo Candio. The Italian finished fourth in the 2010 Main Event cashing just over three million dollars. Duhamel took home almost three times that amount, putting him in second place on the Canadian all time money list behind Daniel Negreanu.
The other two players are also quite accomplished as Brian Roberts place in fourth place in the Main Event here in Cannes last year. Finally there's Andy Frankenberger who beat none other than Phil Ivey in order to win the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em this past summer in Las Vegas. Frankenberger also a World Poker Tour title, and another WSOP bracelet from 2011 when he won a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event.

In order to have a chance at getting your hands on this fantastic prize, all you have to do is share a screenshot of a poker hand on the PokerNews Facebook Page. Really, it's that simple.

Only the player who played the hand in the screenshot is allowed to share the picture and therefore eligible for the prize.
PokerNews would like to wish you all the very best of luck and we cannot wait to see the images that you submit!
