A late night surge from Frenchman Julien Sitbon ensured that he held the chip lead at the end of Day 1 in Event #6: €1,650 Pot-Limit Omaha/No-Limit Hold'em Mixed at the World Series of Poker Europe.

Sitbon chipped up early and after a flurry of bustouts towards the end of the day's play — including the elimination of two-time bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel — he bagged 551,000 chips from a 40,000 starting stack.

Not far behind him his Marco Llapi (521,500) who scored a double knockout in the penultimate level of the night to seemingly be the only other player above 500,000 in chips.

Other big stacks include Michael Magalashvili (438,500) and Denys Fedorenko (377,500).

In total, 76 players bagged for Day 2 from a field of 339 and notables returning include 2020 WSOP Main Event Online champion Stoyan Madanzhiev (245,000), Krasimir Yankov (243,500), Dario Alioto (242,000), Roland Israelashvili (230,000) along with Stuart Rutter (225,500), Jonathan Abdellatif (122,000) and Tobias Peters (88,500).

Day 2 resumes at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 26. No prize pool information has been released yet, but PokerNews will be the place to be for continued updates from this event and more at King's Resort, Rozvadov.

Aces Hold for Gazorishandiz

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Rijad Hasani was all in for over 100,000, with Iman Gazorishandiz also all in but for only 60,000.

Action was on Claudio Di Giacomo who covered both but eventually open-folded {k-}{k-}{q-}{q-}

Rijad Hasani: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Iman Gazorishandiz: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} with aces holding to eliminate Hasani.

Double Elimination Boosts Llapi into Chip Leader Contention

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Mario Llapi
Mario Llapi

With Munkhbayar Nyamsuren all-in preflop, Mario Llapi and Maher Nouira got into a raising war on a {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop.

Eventually, Nouira was all in for around 200,000.

Maher Nouira: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Munkhbayar Nyamsuren: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Mario Llapi: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The turn {a-Spades} gave Llapi a set and the river {3-Diamonds} improved him to a full house and eliminate both opponents. He now sits on a stack of over 750,000 which is a contender for one of the largest in the room.
