Today marks the third day of Event #8: $1,700 No Limit Holdem Main Event, which is the eighth out of 15 WSOP-C ring events. The 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Playground is currently taking place and they will look to crown the Circuit Main Event Champion, a title that hasn't been claimed since Joe Pellegrino won the event back in 2019, earning a substantial $300,000.

The player holding the highest number of chips after the first two flights of the main event is Rami Hammoud, with a total of 953,000. Other players are also close behind, and the third flight will likely bring in some tough competition looking to take the lead. This year, the World Series of Poker is offering a massive guarantee of $1,500,000 for the Main Event, along with a Gold Circuit ring and an invitation to the 2024 Tournament of Champions for the winner.

One more starting flight will take place on Saturday, April 20, also at 11:00 a.m. Subsequently, Day 2 will be held on Sunday, April 21, at 11:00 a.m., followed by Day 3 on Monday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m.

$1,700 Main Event Schedule

DayDateTime
1cApr. 2011:00 a.m.
2Apr. 2111:00 a.m.
3Apr. 2211:00 a.m.

Players will begin with 40,000 in chips. Blinds increase every 40 minutes on Day 1 and increase every 60 minutes on Day 2 and 3. Each Day 1 will play 17 levels or down to 5%, whichever comes first. There will be payouts at 15% of the field. Day 2 plays until level 27 and Day 3 plays until there is a winner. Players may enter (or re‐enter) the tournament until the beginning of Level 13 on each Day 1. This is a re‐entry event with unlimited re‐entries permitted until the end of the late registration period on each Day 1 starting flight.

The cardroom at Playground has a reputation for producing some of the best Canadian poker players. There is a possibility that the experienced players could continue to dominate, or a newcomer may rise to the top and become the next feared player in the game. Regardless, the stakes are high and the opportunity for bragging rights is abundant.

Szimer Goes for it All

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The action was joined in a three-bet pot with about 10,000 already in the middle on a board of 743.

Nghiem Tran led from the small blind for 3,500 and was met with a call in middle position before the action was on Benjamin Szimer on the button. After a short tank she raised to 11,000. Tran stuck around but the middle position player got out of the way.

The 4 turn hit the board and action checked to Szimer who continued for another 10,000. Tran stuck around.

The A hit the river and it was checked to Sizmer for the last time. After a moment in the tank he moved all in for almost the exact stack of Tran as they both were sitting with starting stack. Tran sat in the tank for a moment and then knuckled the table to say nice hand and mucked.

Only a few hands into the day Szimer dragged a pot worth almost two full starting stacks. Lets see where he goes from here.

Gob Shows Up with an Unexpected Hand

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Anthony Gob limped in early position before Jeffrey Fidler limped the small blind and Norman Messier checked his option in the big blind.

The 1046 flop landed and Fidler led from the small blind for 800 and immediately got raised to 2,200 by Messier in the big blind. Gob then cold called in between before Fidler folded on their way to a 6 turn. The action quickly checked through and the A landed on the river.

The action checked through again and Gob quickly tabled QQ for an unexpected premium in a limped pot. Messier flashed king-ten before he mucked.

Seung-Bem Double Barrells

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

The action was opened under the gun to 700 by Toufic Chehayeb before the next player to act, Alex Seung-Bem, put in a three-bet to 2,000. The action folded all the way back to Chehayeb who called and they were off to a flop heads up.

The QQ4 flop landed and the action checked to Seung-Bem who continued for 1,500. Chehayeb called.

The K rolled off on the turn and action checked once more. Seung-Bem sat in the tank for about a minute before putting out another wager of 6,000.

Chehayeb went deep into the tank but after about two minutes he found the fold and Seung-Bem dragged a healthy three-bet pot early.
