Biography

Richard Ashby is a British professional poker player with more than 140 live poker tournament cashes to his name. Among his many accolades, Ashby is a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner. Ashby once was part of Team Full Tilt.

Ashby is a popular poker player who started making a name for himself in 2001 by winning a £100 Pot-Limit Seven-Card Stud event for £10,500. Although Ashby is adept at No-Limit Hold'em and can more than hold his own against the best NLHE players in the world, he is best known for his mixed game prowess, particularly Omaha and Stud disciplines.

Ashby had to wait until January 2009 for his first six-figure haul. The Brit won A$150,000 ($106,555) after finishing seventh in an A$1,150 at the Aussie Millions. The following year, at the 2010 WSOP, Ashby was the runner-up in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship and won $378,027. That score remains Ashby's largest in the live arena. However, the biggest moment of his career occurred a fortnight earlier, victory in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event for $140,467 and bracelet number one.

At the 2014 WSOP, Ashby finished second again, this time in the $10,000 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, and fourth in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Those results earned him $274,019 and $150,625, respectively.

Ashby had several near misses in his quest to win a second gold bracelet and finally got the job done at the 2024 WSOP. He won the $1,500 Limit Seven Card Stud event for $113,725 and the second bracelet of his career.
