Chris Moneymaker just won a big pot of Chris Chapman. Chapman had built up a decent stack and is still sitting healthy after losing a good-sized pot to Moneymaker.
Chapman opened from under the gun to 20,000 and Moneymaker called from the button. The flop came and both players checked.
The turn was the and Chapman checked. Moneymaker bet 35,000 and Chapman called.
The river was the and Chapman checked again. This time Moneymaker bet 75,000 and Chapman called. Moneymaker turned over for two pair and Chapman mucked.
Dennis Summers was eliminated in sixth place when he couldn't stay ahead in a race for his tournament life.
Denny Grizzle opened to 18,000 and Summers shoved all in for about 125,000 more. Grizzle called and showed . Summers had but couldn't stay ahead when a king hit the turn on the board.
Chris Monymaker reclaimed the chip lead after a big hand against Mike Sites. Then Moneymaker three bet David Lackey and folded when Lackey shoved on the flop.
"I don't mind when you give your chips away," Sites said to Moneymaker, "Just don't give mine away too."
"Oh, those ones weren't yours," Moneymaker replied.
Mike Melkersen has been eliminated in seventh place by HPO Ambassador Chris Moneymaker.
Moneymaker stalled out for a little, in terms of stack building, after getting beat in a few hands by chip leader Mike Sites. On this hand, Moneymaker's raise from the small blind led to an all in and Melkersen's elimination.
Melkersen limped the button ahead of Moneymaker's small blind. Moneymaker raised, making it 20,000. When it was Melkersen's turn to act, he went ll in and Moneymaker called.
Moneymaker had against the of Melkersen. The board ran out and gave Moneymaker the elimination.
For the first four hands after the break, there were no flops. A player would raise preflop and everyone else would fold. For the first two hands it was Mike Melkersen and for the first two and Denny Grizzle for the second two.
Right before the break, David Lackey won a pot off Denny Grizzle.
The two players were heads up and looking at a board that read . Grizzle checked to Lackey who bet 50,000. Grizzle called and Lackey showed him the bad news, for top pair, top kicker and Grizzle mucked his hand.
