Thomas Peggs Eliminated in 6th Place (£1,988)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Less than two minutes later, Ali Ahmed claimed yet another scalp, polishing off the last of Thomas Peggs' stack. Peggs had jammed {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} in the hijack for 665,000 and Ahmed called in the cutoff with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Peggs leapt in front on the {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop, but leapt behind again with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} turn and river as his two pair was counterfeited and Ahmed's queen played.

Ryan Kilbey Eliminated in 8th Place (£1,308)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Ryan Kilbey, who'd been pretty active at the start of the final table, had nevertheless not managed to build too much of a stack, and jammed in the hijack for 410,000 when he found an open spot with {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Button Daniel Stancer gave him a spin with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and it worked out for him: the board came down {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Herbertson Has Clock Called as Ahmed Assails Him with Chat

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Ahmed holds a commanding chip lead
Ahmed holds a commanding chip lead

Ali Ahmed opened to 115,000 under the gun, called buy hijack Paul Herbertson alone. Ahmed fired 110,000 on the {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, again called by Herbertson. On the {5-Clubs} turn, Ahmed started to speculate: "Ace-high no good then." Despite declaring this, he bet out 400,000.

Herbertson went into the tank, self counting (he had just under 800,000 left) while Ahmed talked at him.

"What you got, queen-jack?"

"I got a lot better than that," answered Herbertson.

"I'm going to hit it on the river," warned Ahmed.

"That means I'm ahead," concluded Herbertson, at which point the conversation became one-sided and ended with Ahmed asking, "Have you grown your balls yet?" which cracked up the table even as someone called the clock.

Herbertson passed, showing the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} and Ahmed showed the {a-Hearts}.

Kyle Soakell Eliminated in 10th Place (£732)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Daniel Stancer opened what was to be Kyle Soakell's final pot to 110,000, and Soakell moved all-in for 650,000. It wasn't Stancer who made the call, however, but Soakell's neighbour Ali Ahmed. The flat call sparked the folding instinct in Stancer, and the two hands were on their backs:

Soakell: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Ahmed: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The board: {6-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Prize money now begins to jump every place; click the Payouts tab for the breakdown.

McMurray Doubles as Chip Leader Applies Maximum Pressure

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Liam McMurray opened on the button for 85,000, and was called by small blind Paul Herbertson before big blind Jed Turnbull announced that his chips - all three million of them - were all-in. McMurray called (for 1,170,000), Herbertson passed.

McMurray: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Turnbull: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The higher face-card pair held up over the {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} run-out and McMurray takes over the top spot in the counts.
