There is now a break of around 15 minutes prior to the heads-up duel and Ogura has a large lead over Gary Thompson.

Takashi Ogura opened the button to 400,000 with the Q♦6♦ and Eng Soon Ewe defended his big blind holding the 10♥9♥. With a gutshot and back door hearts, Ewe check-called 350,000 on the 7♠6♥4♦ flop before both opted to check through the 3♦ turn.

Ogura improved to two pair on the Q♠ river and Ewe checked to him. The bet of the overwhelming chip leader ended the hand, as Ewe let go to drop further into the danger zone.

Ogura Extracts Value From Thompson

Takashi Ogura limped in with the A♣5♦ and Gary Thompson checked his option with the A♥9♠ out of the big blind. The A♦8♦5♣ flop gave Ogura top and bottom pair for the Japanese to bet 350,000, earning a call from Thompson.

Following the 4♣ turn, Ogura bet another 900,000 and Thompson now pondered about his decision for a while to come along.

Fast forward to the 7♥ river, Ogura gave it a couple of seconds to prepare the third bet worth 1,100,000 and was paid off rather swiftly to cement his lead in three-handed play.

Takashi Ogura made it 400,000 to go with the 10♥9♣ and Eng Soon Ewe defended the 8♥4♣. Both checked the J♣J♦8♣ flop and Ewe then check-called the A♥ turn for 500,000.

After the Q♠ river, Ewe checked for the third time and didn't call a larger bet by Ogura, showing very visible frustration.

Eng Soon Ewe lost further ground and then raised to 400,000 out of the small blind with the 8♥6♠. Takashi Ogura jammed the 10♦10♣ out of the big blind and Ewe sigh-folded.

Ewe then jammed the button with the 3♥3♦ and Ogura folded the A♣3♣ in the small blind, Gary Thompson also got out of the way.

Ewe Takes From Ogura; Loses a Lot More After

Takashi Ogura opened to 300,000 holding the A♠8♦ and Eng Soon Ewe came along with the 10♠9♥. With top pair on the 9♣3♣2♥ flop, Ewe check-called for 260,000 and led the 4♥ turn for 400,000, Ogura called.

Ewe bet another 1,200,000 on the 10♥ and Ogura folded.

Min-raised three- way action to the 10♥6♣2♥ flop saw Soon then check-call for 400,000 with the 9♠7♣ for a gutshot, as Ogura bet his 9♥8♦ for a different gutshot. Gary Thompson got out of the way and the 7♥ turn improved Ogura. Ewe opted to check-call for 1,100,000 and checked the 9♦ river once more.

Ogura checked it back and won the pot with his straight.

The Japanese then checked the 2♦ river for Thompson to bet 800,000. Ogura eventually let go of his inferior full house and avoided a further setback.

The Q♠9♥7♣ flop gave Ogura the open-ended straight draw and Ewe check-folded to his continuation bet.

Ewe raised to 300,000 next with the 9♦3♦ in the small blind, picking up a call by Ogura who defended the 10♦8♣. The Q♠10♠9♣ flop gave both players a piece and Ewe's bet of 200,000 was called. They checked the A♦ turn and Ewe bet another 600,000 on the 4♣ river.
