Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Sam Higgs
Sam Higgs

In a three-bet pot and 30,000 in the middle already, Jonathan Karamalikis checked to Sam Higgs who bet 20,000.

Higgs had 80,000 behind and Karamalikis check-raised all in and Higgs called.

Sam Higgs: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jonathan Karamalikis: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Karamalikis had a stranglehold on the hand, but the turn brought the {q-Hearts} giving Higgs a set. The river was the {4-Spades} and Higgs doubled up.

Zinkevich Busts Fast

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The cards of Dietrich Fast were already in the muck and the German grabbed his belongings while his stack and the one of Yury Zinkevich were counted. The latter had his {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} still tabled along with the boarding showing {K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and Nick Solomos confirmed "ace queen versus ace king" in table chat.

Sinclair Folds to Salter's Shove

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In a battle of the blinds the flop showed {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Jack Salter bet 2,200. Jack Sinclair in the big blind raised to 7,000 and Salter called. Both players checked the {5-Clubs} turn and Salter also checked the {9-Hearts} turn. Sinclair bet 5,000 and Salter's check-shove did the trick to force a fold from the 2017 WSOP Main Event 8th place finisher.

Fedor Holz has three cashes in Australia; a sixth and third in the $100,000 Challenge in 2016 & 2017, and a fifth place finish in last year's Main Event. Holz is one of the latest players to join the field of the $25,000 Challenge, and his chipped up somewhat in the first ten minutes or so.

Holz opened to 4,500 and Killian Kramer defended his big blind. Kramer checked the {4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop to Holz who continued for 2,700. Kramer folded.

Yan Doubles Through Kiletto

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Picking up the action on the flop of {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, [Removed:17] checked out of the big blind and Lili Kiletto bet 13,000 into a pot of around 18,000, which Yan called. The {8-Hearts} fell on the turn and Yan checked once more, Kiletto immediately moved all in.

Yan sighed, but eventually called it off on his second bullet.

[Removed:17]: {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Lily Kiletto: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The {7-Diamonds} was not among the cards to help Kiletto and her stack was more than halved, as Yan doubled for 75,600.

Schwippert Busts Hoefer

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The second bullet of Jan-Eric Schwippert appears to run smoothly thus far and he just sent fellow German Paul Hoefer to the rail. After defending his big blind, Schwippert ended up shoving the river of a board {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

With some 22,000 in the middle, Hoefer had 35,000 behind and called it off after giving it some thought. Schwippert rolled over {10-Spades}{5-Clubs} for trips and Hoefer mucked {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} before heading to the rail.

Kornuth Doubles; Yan Chips Up

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Chance Kornuth held {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} but would have to come from behind to double up against Dietrich Fast's {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

There was an Ace on the {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and although the {k-Clubs} came on the turn giving Fast extra outs, there was to be no comeback as the river {9-Clubs} was dealt. Kornuth doubled to around 60,000.

Meanwhile Daniel Neilson raised to 3,200 and [Removed:17] three-bet to 10,000. Neilson called and the flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Neilson check-called a bet of 7,400 but check-folded on the {k-Spades} turn to a bet of 18,000.
