Dylan Foster was all in for 21,000 with A♠K♣ against the A♥4♣ of Jose Amundarain.

The 6♠6♥Q♥A♣8♥ board ran out with Foster doubling up.

Meanwhile on a neighbouring table Zelig Otter check-called 5,500 from Higor Seibel on a A♠4♣3♣ flop. The turn was the J♣ and Otter check-called another 15,000.

The river was the 5♣ and this time Otter opted to bet 6,000. Seibel called and Otter showed A♥9♥ for top pair. Seibel revealed 4♥3♥ for two pair and won the pot.

Symonds Scores Big Double Through Liow

Three players were in a hand on a 4♣4♦2♦ flop. The action checked to Noman Mirza who bet 3,500. Marcuss Liow check-raised to 15,400 and Karl Symonds then re-raised to 35,000.

Mirza quickly folded and Liow snap-shoved. Symonds called and was at risk for 89,700.

Liow was ahead but would need to dodge diamonds as well as an ace or a king. The turn 10♦ gave Symonds the nut flush, with Liow failing to make his full house on the A♣ river.

The flop K♥Q♦J♥ improved Symonds to a set but gave Riyazati additional straight outs. The turn 6♥ also gave him a flush draw but the 7♠ bricked and Symonds doubled up to leave Riyazati short.

Amin Riyazati opened to 600 and got calls from Yuanting Wang and Lauchlan Swann in the big blind.

The flop came Q♦3♦2x and Swann shoved for 15,000. Riyazati folded but Wang called.

Wang was needing to improve to knock out Swann as the turn came the 4♣. The river was the 8♠, handing Wang a pair and sending Swann to the rail as the first elimination of the day.

Welcome to the Australian Poker Open Main Event!

While yesterday saw the $1,500 Platinum Player Championships get underway at the Australian Poker Open, today it's time for the $3,300 Main Event.

Two more starting flights remain — today and tomorrow — in this hotly anticipated $1 million GTD tournament held at Doltone House Western Sydney at Club Marconi.

Players will receive 50,000 chips and there will be nine 40-minute levels of late registration and re-entry.

Day 1 will end once the field is down to 12.5% with all players guaranteed a $5,000 min-cash upon bagging. If players bag multiple stacks, they will receive a min-cash payment for every stack bagged, with the largest stack brought forward to Day 2 on Saturday, March 30.
