Andrew Lichtenberger runs out of Luck

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Andrew Lichtenberger, also known as "luckychewy", just got his stack of 291,000 chips in preflop with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Kitty Kuo had him covered and also made the call with the dominating hand in {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. There was no help on the {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{A-Spades}{7-Spades} board and Lichtenberger headed to the rail.

Spears and Nguyen Double Up

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Adam Bitker raised to 35,000 and Robbie Bakker called, Andy Spears raised to 75,000 with about 220,000 behind and Bitker moved all in. Bakker folded {A-}{Q-} and Bitker turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Spears was at risk with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} but got the necessary help on the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} board.

Steve Nguyen moved all in for 184,000 from early position and Ron Carrocio called in the big blind with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Nguyen had one over card in {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and did indeed improve on the {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts} board. Carrocio sighed "so poker is a skill game," before shipping over the stack and losing half of his chips.

Last Break of the Evening

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Players are on a 15-minute break. This is the last break of the evening. They will return and play one more level before calling it a night. There are 32 players remaining.

A Couple of Double Ups

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Christopher DeMaci doubled up for 418,000 with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} of David Eldridge. The chips went in preflop and the board ran out {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Richard Miller doubled up for 196,000 with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} against the pocket fours of Ron Carrocio, again the better hand preflop held up on the {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} board.

Alex Goulder doubled through Kitty Kuo with {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} versus {A-}{Q-} after spiking the help with the {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} river.

Garrett Beckman scored a huge double up with a turned set of jacks versus the flopped set of nines from Jason Smith. The latter then doubled up against Jorn Walthaus with {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} versus {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for 112,000 and won another pot with a preflop all in that went through uncontested.

Kerper Busts against Quads

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Jens Kerper
Jens Kerper

Jens Kerper has been eliminated after a rather decent day that ultimately saw him join the rail in a bitter sweet setup against Adam Bitker. The {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades} board was already completed when we got to the table, apparently it was a three-bet pot preflop though.

Kerper called the check-raise on the flop from 65,000 to 145,000 and also flat called another barrel on the turn before the rest of the stack went in after the final community card. Kerper had turned the nut straight with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} but Bitker had that beat with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for quad tens.

Simon joins the Rail

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

John Simon had just doubled up through Jorn Walthaus before but the Dutchman returned the favor with {K-}{J-} versus {A-}{J-} and spiked the nut straight on the turn. Simon then moved all in for 59,000 from early position and Dmitry Kataev called on the button, the blinds folded.

Simon: {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Kataev: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

Both hit the {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, on the {8-Hearts} turn Simon had a few outs less. A meaningless {8-Spades} river completed the board and Simon headed to the payout desk to collect $8,583.

Well That Was... Exciting.

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Wang was in the cutoff and opened the action to 26,000. The player to his immediate left, on the button, made it 57,000 to go. Wang thought for a moment and then counted out a raise to 168,000 and pushed it into the middle. His opponent thought for a moment and then lightly told the dealer that he was all in. The dealer had to ask him to repeat himself and he did so. Wang thought for 15 seconds before pushing a stack of chips into the middle. Both of the players had large stacks and the other players at the table craned their necks to take a peek at the hands that had caused all these chips to be put into the middle.

Wang's opponent turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Wang turned over {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and the table let out a collective laugh and groan. The board ran out dry and both players took their chips back.
