Diamonds Aren't a Girl's Best Friend

We found Barbara Martinez and Dan Smith looking at a connected flop of {J-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} . Martinez bet 10,000 and Smith made it 31,000 to go. Martinez called and the {8-Clubs} turned.

Smith moved her all in and she snapped with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} for a straight. Smith was drawing live, however, with the {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} .

The {5-Diamonds} drilled the river and made Smith's flush. Martinez quickly stood up and exited the tournament area while Smith stacked his new chips. He's currently sitting on about 270,000.

We caught the action with 120,000 already pulled into the middle with a board reading {2-Spades} {7-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} . [Removed:138], who was in the small blind, was considering what to do as Hellmuth had 35,000 out in front of him.

"Let's gamble. One of us wins the chips," Hellmuth said as Guinand contemplated. Eventually Guinand folded his hand and Hellmuth smiled and quickly flipped over {10-Clubs} {5-Hearts} for a stone-cold bluff.

Andrulis Wins with Continuation Bet

From under the gun, Kristijonas Andrulis raised to 4,300. Vladislav Varlashin called from middle position, Phil Hellmuth called from the cutoff seat, and Adrien Allain called from the big blind. From there, the dealer ran out the {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {6-Clubs} , and Allain checked. Andrulis fired a continuation bet of 6,500, and all of his opponents folded.

From middle position, Jason Mercier raised to 4,000. Kyle Julius called from the big blind, and the flop came down {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} . Both players checked to see the {K-Clubs} come out on the turn. Julius checked, and Mercier bet 4,400. Julius called.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds} to pair the board, which prompted Julius to lead for 15,000. Mercier called.

Julius tabled the {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for a full house, and Mercier mucked his hand.

Beware of Cheung

Liv Boeree opened for 4,500 under the gun and received a call from October Niner Jesse Sylvia, who had chipped up considerably since the last time we check in with him. Fung Cheung, who had just moved from another table a few hands before, then came in with a three-bet to 20,000 from the small blind.

As the big blind was considering his action, another player started chatting up Cheung, who has been known to hang out with Phil Ivey. When asked where she learned to play poker, Cheung simply said, "Macau." When asked for how long, she whispered, "Long time."

The Macau games are the stuff of legends in the poker world, and it's possible the other players found the newly revealed information a bit intimidating as one by one they folded. Appropriately, Cheung revealed {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} before sending her cards to the muck.

Huge Double For Julius

Jason Mercier opened to 4,000 from early position and was called by Sam Cohen as well as Kyle Julius from the small blind and the player in the big blind.

The flop came {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {6-Hearts} and there were three checks to Cohen. She fired 7,700 and Julius raised to 17,000. The big blind got out of the way and Mercier joined him by throwing his cards to the muck.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and Julius bet 9,500. Cohen called and the {4-Hearts} river put a straight on the board. Julius moved all in for 67,000 and after about a minute Cohen announced a call.

Julius showed {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} for a higher straight than on the board and Cohen threw away her hand. Julius is now sitting on roughly 212,000 in chips.
