Bodog Ends Jamie Gold Endorsement Deal

A Bodog spokesperson confirmed that Bodog has terminated their formal endorsement relationship with Jamie Gold, the 2006 WSOP Main Event champion. The confirmation e-mail from Susan Mainzer, the Senior Media Relations Manager at Bodog marketing company Riptown.com Media, cites none of the difficulties encountered by Gold following his breakthrough win. Instead the decision is placed squarely within the context of Bodog's other market choices surrounding online poker in the United States, including Bodog's recent decision to terminate all non-Internet related advertising within the States. That decision resulted in the pulling of Bodog ads from print magazines and various television shows, among others.

As for ending the relationship with Gold, Mainzer offered the following on Bodog's behalf:

'In light of our decision to cease all offline marketing initiatives in the U.S., and instead refocus our efforts on growing our entertainment brand in Europe and Asia, Bodog has ended our business relationship with Jamie Gold. Bodog has enjoyed our association with Mr. Gold and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.'
